Wbowman,
I have been a wearing 5.11 products for 12 years and have no complaints at all. However, I recently purchased a TDU Rapid Assault shirt and was pretty disappointed in the design. nnThe body of the shirt fits perfectly. However, the arms of the shirt are extremely sloppy, long and over baggy. I wish the arms were more tight fitting. This shirt was purchased for tactical operations and I personally am not a fan of loose clothing in those scenarios.

Nothing against 5.11 but the arms on these are massive compared to the chest, I look like a gorilla

Sleeves are a baggy strong material, great for movement and wear and tear. And the torso is a lighter more breathable elastic material. Great for wearing with a plate carrier
RaspundeDanny L.,
All out Great shirt! Fits like a glove and is very comfortable... I highly recommend it
RaspundeMatthew D.,
Awesome shirt and good price too compared to others.
RaspundeSoren,
This shirt looks great, follow the size chart and order it to be tight in the torso. Your arms will sweat because when they say durable poly/cotton sleeves they mean it, you can roll them up though. The body is soft and breathes well so you don't pay attention to your arms sweating when you're incredibly cool otherwise. The elbows have an extra layer of fabric to keep you and the shirt protected. The sleeve pockets are like those of an ACU tunic, velcro panels and lots of space, though they are more slanted than usual to allow for easier reach.
RaspundeJay,
I only ever wear it on range days under my soft armour and it's very comfortable with the sleeves rolled up. When I'm running late I also use it as a pullover to hide my shoulder flashes on the drive into work on hot days.
RaspundeGraham,
I purchased one of these at a local retailer for $85 Cad. Al the specs are true, the shirt breaths well, and the sleeves can take a beating. The pockets are deep and do make for great storage. I'm using mine for airsoft and field training exercises, and it's fantastic. While the product is awesome, the price isn't, even at the 85$ I paid for mine I did feel guilty....
RaspundeCharles,
Nice shirt, get fit and nice length (even for fat guys like myself). Only issue is the sleeves don't breathe therefore sweat pours down your arms. I would buy again regardless.
RaspundeTx O.,
I know this is intended to be a tactical shirt, but the same reasons that make it good for that use make it great for paddling. It fits over your PDF and allows a day of paddling with no chafing. The ripstop sleeves are great, as are the pockets, which are large enough for an iPhone 6 in its waterpoof case. These sleeves will not snag when portaging through the underbrush. Even the Velcro on the sleeves is useful to me. As a paddling instructor, I can put my instructor patch on the sleeve when teaching, but not have to dedicate a shirt for that purpose. You generally wear one shirt for the entirety of of a weeklong trip to the boundary waters. This would be my shirt.
RaspundeDiego,
If I'm going to pay $60 for a shirt then it needs to last more than 2 months. I bought this shirt back in March and it's already got holes from where my vest has rubbed through on the right side. I bought a similar shirt by a different company and have had no trouble with it and not even the beginning of any holes like the 5.11 shirt has
RaspundePrivate O.,
We use these shirts for certain details and get nothing but complements on these shirt. My biggest fear was that people would see them as "too aggressive" but its actually the total opposite.
RaspundeRetired E.,
I field tested this shirt with the Stryke pants. What a nice shirt and so much more comfortable when wearing the external vest. Just a word about size. It is form fitting. I generally wear a medium size shirt but in this I took a large.
RaspundeWoody,
Fantastic shirt! I own one in Black and in multicam. I would like the availability of elbow pad pockets. Great shirt otherwise, very breathable
RaspundeDeeemtea,
ITZ ALL 'BOUT ME: I'm a Federal employee [DoD Civ] Paramedic, Wilderness EMT [WEMT]; & [soon-to-be] Volunteer Backcountry Ranger/WEMT. Wear MIL STD uniform-like khaki/coyote/foliage/OD green field apparel as "work clothing"; tend to avoid wearing any woodland cammies, MARPAT, or multicam, unless required = I now work in a training environment & no longer have to "sneek n' peek" in the woods. But finding cost-effective, non-cammie, good-quality field apparel can be a bit problematic, especially since unit not providing any [!]. Like the utility/durability of combat gear - just don't need multicam...I'm also somehing of a gear & kit snob, so I'm willing to pay a bit more for high quality goodies... PROs: Finally - a well-made, non-cammie field shirt for work!! IMNSHO, this shirt is a true, professional grade garment in terms of relative affordability [abt $70 - $100, incl tax, S & H; vs high-end ~ $140 +, USG-approved FR versions for use down range]. Very good form, streamlined, functional fit, breathable, good wicking & overall very good utility. For current work, khaki is best (but intend on purchasing another in greeen, ASAP). Perfect for its life-saving neutral colour in the killing sun[arid/scrub/high desert/high heat/humidity environments]. Used w/ both heavy [~ 65-70 lbs] & light [max 35 lbs] med ruck loads: it wicked superbly, dryed quickly, maintained functional fit w/o yoke/collar getting pulled down off neck, & permitted easy access to very good sleeve pockets w/ ruck on. After sweating heavily whilst wearing continuously X 48 hrs, didn't retain much "PU - you reek, dude!" factor - but then again, we all stunk.... When washed w/ oxyclean-like powder & tree hugger laundry soap, all accumulated grime/sweat/odours were gone...highly suggest air dry vs machine dry! Yet to use it in cooler/colder weather, 'cause most places I currently TDY/TAD/work @ have but 2 seasons: Summer & Not-yet-Summer...; but believe that once the 2 weeks of Winter roll round, it will do "well" w/ a 5.11 thermal undergarment whilst "Oscar Mike"...of course, you'll certainly need fleecy-like, wind-resistant snivel gear once @ "the halt"...CONs: As noted above, all very minor - hence 4 stars. Also, have concerns about heavy use/abuse & durability of mesh body, but only time will tell...mind the tag on the neck; in future, hope 5.11 will hot press/print garment sizing/ID labels on the back/neck vs the current type...it drove me bonkers, so I removed it, which left a small-ish hole on the suprisingly-weak yoke seam [thank the field gawds for rigger's tape, huh?!] Again, kinda-pricey...but, the other brands are too - especially the real-type combat shirts! As 1 professional to the others that may read this, a "Heads Up"...please remember:1. THIS GARMENT AINT FIRE RESISTANT - so take take care, all you Frequent Flyers headed down to the reciprical rifle range!2. Some non-DOD Fed & State agencies won't let ya wear 'em on their A/Cs or @ base sites for various reasons: a) Not FR [makes sense during wildland/campaign fires]; b) It's not [yet] approved as a recognized uniform item @ many Jellystone Park[s] - even for backcountry volunteers; & especially a khaki-over-green combo, or the green shirt;; or,3. And my absolute personal fave: @ a [very PC] WEMT course, I was told "...it's too "Army-looking..." [swear ta gwad..., even tho I wear the khaki version, that was their reasoning!].Anyway, thanks for readin' my first-ever tech feedback/report-schpiel....but most of all, to my armed forces & public safety brothers & sisters, I sincerely 'preciate your service - you're why "I do my 'vodoo' the way I do...", too!Cheers & keep your powder dry!
RaspundePoint S.,
This is a great looking shirt where the sleeves and neck are meant for warmth and performance. I'm a great fan of the 511 product line, but I was disappointed to see that the body of this shirt was thin cotton. And true to my suspicion, after the first wash on the delicate cycle (and air dried) the material is already beginning to ball up. There are plenty of other durable fabrics that could be used without using this as a last resort. It is however very comfortable and sporty looking. My line of work is security and surveillance.
RaspundeCooks71,
I used it on training on the range and it's great. When things comes to dynamic exercises you'll appreciate the breathability of the shirt.Easy to clean.
RaspundeJoe,
I wear these shirts everyday for work.(full time SWAT) My biggest complaint is lack of pocket usability. Yes, the pockets are there on the sleeves, but police patches tend to be much bigger than most military patches, therefore causing the patch to completely cover the pocket openings, rendering them useless. A side zipper or velcro slash opening on the pockets would be ideal.
RaspundeAndrew,
Wish they had a fire retardant version of this shirt. Otherwise, overall this is a very comfortable shirt that serves its purpose!
RaspundeScooter,
This shirt as as durable and tuff as the taclite pro pants. it takes what ever you can throw at it and still looks new.
RaspundeOld S.,
First I wear a 511 t-shirt, then put on my TDU shirt, with my body armor over the top of that.Next I finish by wearing my 511 load bearing vest.It is more comfortable and breathable then wearing a polo shirt. I strongly believe that the 511 TDU shirt is the most comfortable shirt on the market...
RaspundeNicolas J.,
I love this shirt I wear it under my plate carrier and due to the material on the chest it keeps it comfortable and breathable in hot weather
RaspundeMichael E.,
This is an extremely functional, rugid, great looking shirt. They have thought of everything. I have one of each color. Worth every penny.
RaspundeMosa,
These shirts are amazing and the cost is perfect. Actually a really great deal considering how well these are made and fit. They take a beating and I can't be happier with the quality and use I'm getting out of it. I called customer service and they suggested that I leave a comment here since I have a suggestion for you. It would be awesome to see these in a dark Grey color. The other colors / multicam that you have are great but I know myself and a lot of other guys have a need for grey and I would rather buy from you than a different company. Thanks for the awesomeness and keep doing what your doing.
RaspundeDirect B.,
This Shirt is the best reasonably priced shirt I have used so far. So good in fact our entire team has switched to them.
RaspundeSgt,
I am a little disappointed with the material used for this shirt. I thought the material used would be a little thicker. It seems fragile.
RaspundeJd,
The sleeves and length are great just wish the rest of the shirt wasn't so skin tight.
RaspundeGdb,
Pockets on the sleeve work well when wearing plate carrier. Very breathable material on body. Elbows are reinforced. I think they made the sleeves long to be flexible. I am a bit curious about how it would handle an exposure to a flash fire
RaspundeJoebill,
I would buy this top if your going to Hot or warm weather climates. Breathes good when wearing kit and washes well without fraying. The chest and back are made of a light weight material thats breaths really well. and sleeves are pretty rugged as well. Currently wearing the Rapid Assault Shirt in afghanistan during the summer months for operations.
RaspundeEmartch,
I use it almost every day, I love the way it feels. The only thing I think this product is lacking of is the fact that it does not have pen pockets on the sleeve. Other than that this was a great purchase. I'm very happy and pleased with it.
RaspundeThe P.,
Its a great shirt, living in Texas and wearing a level III bullet proof vest I recommend this shirt to everyone!! My only issue is one day I got really sweaty and took the shirt off and ripped it in the breathing material part. But thanks to my girlfriend she patched it back up for me. I have the black one and plan on buying other colors to match my 5.11 pants.
RaspundeMatt,
With the recent heat wave in the Midwest, I decided to find a substitute for our standard BDU's. I found this, ordered it and have already worn it on 7 hour deployment. I was much cooler than my partners who were stuck in the traditional BDU shirts.
RaspundeFm14,
THIS IS A MUST HAVE if you use the 5.11 vest breaths and makes life better no neck rubbing from vest.. this shirt is amazing!!!
RaspundeRick,
This is a better collar than other products on the market, the shirt fits a little snug because of the material. I suggest ordering a size larger if you like it loose fitting. I thought that the sleeves were long for the shirt. I wish that they made this same shirt with flame retardent materials.
RaspundeJoe,
I love this shirt, I have used it on several missions and training events. When it is 107 degrees outside this shirt is worth its weight in gold. I was skeptical at first because I wear armor over the shirt but it does breath well and you feel every slight breese thet comes your way. If you operate in a desert environment this shirt is the way to go.
