Tracey B.,
I sized up one whole size and they fit perfectly. Great fitting and super comfortable all-around boot. The ankle zip is great for easy on/off. The boot goes up high enough so it doesn’t rub on your ankle, which is awesome. Love them!
RaspundeDeven D.,
These boots honestly feel like i’m walking on clouds. They also don’t make my feet sweat like my old boots. They’re very comfortable and overall a good boot. 10/10 recommend.
RaspundeDean,
Most comfortable boot I've ever owned. Build quality is great and most importantly the zipper is placed perfectly to conveniently remove or put on the boot. It allows a tight fitment without adjusting the laces at all.
RaspundeAnthony,
I have been using these boots for almost 3 years now and they are super comfortable and a a very secure fit the only issue is that the soles wear out very quickly maybe a 2. 0 version that has a longer lasting sole with more grip would be nice
RaspundeMike,
Boots look great but they are just too narrow and after months of wearing them , I thought they would loosen a little and be broken in but still just way to snug and uncomfortable I will be having to buy a different boot.
RaspundeDerik,
I can't keep this boot but it has so many incredible features that I truly want 5. 11 to continue building. The pull straps on the tongue and back are perfectly useful and intuitive while staying subtle. The locking eyelet to synch around my ankle is FANTASTIC. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE continue doing this! The insole is super comfy. The outsole is grippy and has a comfortably angled heel. nnWhile standing or walking flat, this is the most comfortable boot I've ever worn. nnHowever, the front eyelets dig into the top of my foot. Worse yet, when it comes to stairs, I only have 2 options: n1) so tight that I can't flex my foot without a lot of pain above and below my ankle n2) so loose that my heel pulls up and my foot shifts around enough that, after a few steps, I'm stepping on the sides of the boot.nnWith no padding in the boot's upper, there is little to no flexibility in the fit - either tight or loose. I honestly think that a padded tongue would dramatically help both problems. I desperately want this boot to work.

Cody,
Loved the look and the waterproof features of the boot. I wore them for work for 2 months and the side zip of the boot rubbed on my ankle bone to the point I had to stop wearing them because of the discomfort

Joe,
Comfortable at first, but unstable and slippery now that the soles have worn down so easily nnI only use these for part time work and in under 6 months the soles have worn out on them a lot nnFor the price, I expected at least a year out of them. I had previously owned HRT boots for over 15 years from 5. 11 and the soles lasted a hell of a lot longer on those.nnDisappointed. I got two pairs of A/T thinking they would last like the old 5. 11 boots used to

The 5. 11 A/T 8" Side Zip Boot delivers an outstanding combination of comfort, practicality, and performance right out of the box. One of the most impressive features is the comfort level
these boots feel broken in from the first wear. Theres no painful break-in period like you might expect with similar tactical boots, making them an ideal choice for anyone who needs to hit the ground running.nnThe side zipper is a major convenience feature. It makes taking the boots on and off quick and effortless, especially after a long shift or a day on the move. This simple addition makes a noticeable difference in everyday wear and efficiency.nnDespite the sturdy build and support, these boots are surprisingly lightweight. You get the durability and ankle protection of an 8-inch boot without feeling like you're dragging extra weight around. Breathability is another win
they manage heat well, even during extended wear, helping to keep your feet cool and dry.nnOverall, the 5. 11 A/T 8" Side Zip Boot is a solid choice for anyone in law enforcement, military, or demanding outdoor environments. They offer all-day comfort, quick functionality, and tactical performance with zero compromise.
Paul,
Good quality and but they run very small. I purchased a 9 wide and they run much narrower than any other boot Ive had. The pair I just bought a few months ago sit in the closet because they are so narrow I cant wear them.
RaspundeGabe M.,
Finally purchasing a new pair after 3.5 years of daily work wear. The sole is great for frequent standing, especially when dealing with things like ladders or ledges where the full foot can't rest flat. Can't complain about the ankle support. The leather has just enough give that they wear in nice and comfortable to your foot, though after a couple years I found the stitching near the small toe began to separate. The zip-and-go functionality creates one less hassle on busy work mornings. Overall a winner that I will keep using for work so long as quality remains consistent.
RaspundeChristina P.,
I work on my feet almost my whole shift, which can range from 8-16 hours. The shoe is really durable, great grip on wet/multi surface floors and supports my ankles with the laces and the side zipper. I just wish the sole of the shoe was more comfortable/cushioned. After a month with them I can already feel like the soles are flattening to where I can feel the rubber tread. Nothing too crazy like a cheaper shoe collapsing, but insoles should fix it within another month or so of wear. Toe fits great, if I wear thicker socks its better as thinner socks can have me feeling the toe stitching and thats never fun. Female, officer, heavier/tall build.
RaspundeBrad G.,
Bought them at BassPro last week. So comfortable !! I'm thinking about wearing them at a 100 mile race next week
RaspundeCory M.,
This will be my 3rd pair of these boots. I work 12 hour days as a LEO and these things are very comfy. My only gripe is that they don't last as long as I would like them to. I get any where from 6 to 9 months outta these boots, but I am hard on them. Great look. Nice grip. I like the 8 inch side zip because I have "old terd" ankles and I'm too old of a terd to untie and retie them everytime. I give them a solid 9.5, solely because I wish they lasted longer. Or better yet. Forever. Lifetime warranty would be very cool. Hint Hint!
RaspundeNathan D.,
They have a hot spot near my big toe on the roof in both boots (and I have extremely tuff feet). Otherwise the quality/durability is there and they look cool.
RaspundeStacey S.,
These are my third pair . I am on concrete all day , lifting product up and down ladders. These last longer than any other duty boot or sneaker, plus the ankle support. And the A/T system does make a difference, after hauling heavy loads all day my feet, knees and lower back feel a lot less fatigued or sore.
RaspundeWayne E.,
First of all & no joke in the last 3 months have been looking for a black pair of duty boots for CDCR and have ordered several different pairs trial & error. Danner, Under Armour, Altima, Nike which are all great brands and I've had great experience in the past with but after my 6th pair was simply fed up with ordering & returns but now have a great relationship with the UPS store members LOL Went to the 511 store with the wife and spotted this model boot just over the weekend and figured what's one more attempt and tried it on... I'm not BS anyone by the time I went to the counter to pay for them, I already had processed a return for the new Under Armour boots I had sitting in my car I just received. The 511 boots felt exactly like I've wanted my boots to be and couldn't be any happier. Everyone has different opinions and all the other brands are quality items but the 511 ended my journey of headaches and thank you so much for making the perfect boot that works for me. Please don't go changing them or discontinuing them:+1:
RaspundeTrey L.,
I have been wearing boots for all of my adult life, whether in the military, fire service, or EMS. These are by far the most comfortable boots that I have ever owned. I honestly look forward to wearing them. More comfortable than most of my sneakers. only 4/5 because I have only had them for roughly 3/4 of a year and they already have lost most of their tread and will need to be replaced soon, but you can be sure I'm buying a replacement pair of these boots.
RaspundeBill,
To start I'm very picky with my footwear. Feet carry us through life so taking care of your feet with quality shoes is important to me, that being said I've always stuck to "hiking sneakers" or "trail sneakers" or very precise walking shoes for jobs that required me to be on my feet a lot. 4D Ultraboost were my go to for awhile and I still do love them but with everyday wear they wear out infinitely faster than boots are supposed to be designed for. I had gotten these with aspirations to enlist and I needed new work boots anyway so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone kind of thing this was give or take nine months ago now and ever since I've gotten these I haven't taken them off... I was just thinking about it while lacing up to walk my dog in the snow and I'm just so grateful that I bought these. I wore through the insoles already but I had a few better third party ones laying around so I just recently switched them as well and again, wow. nnComfort: 10nStyle: 10nPracticality: 10nn10/10 boots. I CANNOT recommend enough.
RaspundeCarlos C.,
Great for patrol officers. Its the best boot Ive worn in my 10 year in law enforcement.
RaspundeCory M.,
I absolutely love these boots. I have literally worn a pair out to the point the sole fell off and just got my new pair. I love them. Shame I can't post a picture of the old ones next to the new ones. But I strongly recommend them.
RaspundeN. S.,
I purchased these approximately two years ago.. and I tell you they are the best. Working on a Tactical Enforcement team I am always on the go... and they have saved me. They are sooo great that my Fibromyalgia does not bother me as much when I wear these.. I said all of this to say..I am dropping these into my basket right now as I need to go to training with two pair of boots and I will not have some good days and some bad days because I have on a different shoe!!!!!!!!!
RaspundeAntonio L.,
Greatttt!!! Fit perfect, took 2-3 days to break em in. Shine really well, barely creased as of right now, love the laces!
RaspundeMaurice B.,
Bought these just shy of two years ago, only used for work. 10 plus miles per day on concrete, inside. Maybe the most comfortable boots I have ever worn, and for that, will purchase another pair. Outer foot tore out on each boot, and that makes them fragile. Am ex-military, and know boots, I expect longer lasting.
RaspundeJesse L.,
They look cool, but they are not as comfortable as I thought they would be. Most days I have to take them off, during my breaks because my feet are sore.
RaspundeTrevor J.,
One month in and the A/T sidezip boots are great. it has a lot of padding, they're easy to slip on while tied due to the zipper, and the lacelocks work well. My only qualm is that they had sharp plastic at the top of the zipper boarder, it was easy enough to file down myself once it was noticed.nnIf budget is an issue wait till they go on sale. They'll be worth it.
RaspundeDavid L.,
These boots offer a good balance of relatively light weight and decent ankle support. I have very bad ankles so support is important and the side zip is great for me. I'm not concerned about speed as much as ease of on/off. I don't have to unlace them all the way each time. I walk a lot for my security job and the Ortholite foot bed is like walking in a sneaker. Great boot.
RaspundeBrandon C.,
Very comfortable, light weight. Fits perfect, very quick on and off with the zipper side. Have to adjust the laces after on and off a couple of times but nothing to major. Absolutely love the boots
RaspundeMohamad Y.,
Love it. This is my second pair. I highly appreciate and recommend the ATLAS technology. It made my life much better especially since I spend long hours on my feet at work. It made a significant improvement over the previous brand I used even though it was more expensive. These boots significantly decreased work-related muscle pains.
RaspundeTyson H.,
Thus far 4 stars. Still in the break in period though so it may improve. For walking with load it has been great esp in full gear for law enforcement. But if you are standing for long periods of time I feel the atac is better. Again, this may change. If you need a lot of ankle support like me this boot is ideal.
RaspundeJames N.,
I ordered the wrong boot online, went to the store in Thornton, CO where the staff was very helpful and helped me get the boot I was looking for. For a boot under $200 there is no beating the 5.11 AT. My last pair lasted me over a year where boots over $200 fromnnOther brands made it maybe 6 months. The arch support, cushion, tread, design for comfort and overall durability are fantastic.
RaspundeDaniel H.,
It was suggested by my recruiter to get side zip boots for ease and speed of putting them on. It doesn't work. You still have to untie them, loosen the laces and use a shoe horn to put them on. However, they are comfortable and relatively light weight. Time will tell if they last.
RaspundeJason,
Theyre very comfortable. I wore them the first few days to break them in and there was no need to. We shall see how long they last. But so far so good.
RaspundeKevon T.,
Most comfortable and lightweight boot i have worn for patrol duty. Five star!
RaspundeBraden,
These boots are amazing, always have worn danners but decided to try these after co-worker recommended them. After breaking them for about a week, they are the most comfortable boots I have worn on the job. Probably will never go back to another boot
RaspundeJohn S.,
Great fit out of the box. Very comfortable. Highly recommend them
RaspundeJonas D.,
Im a state correctional Officer, and spend my 8.5 hour shift on my feet most of the time walking or running around the compound. I normally wear a size 12 and the side zip is extremely important for me because I have to take them off every time I come in and out of the control room which is at least at the beginning and at the end of every shift. I will say that I have thoroughly enjoyed these boots. Ive had them now for two or three months now. Although the first week or so they were a bit uncomfortable and I did have a little bit of pain across the foot and on the inside zipper I chalked it up to just a break in period. Which after a few days the boots did break in and now fit great and are very comfortable to run and walk in.
RaspundeChris,
I needed new station boots and was looking for a new boot to try. These started off awesome as many before have said, there really isnt a break in period. They start comfortable and are light weight. The problem is that they fall apart quickly and are not up to the task of Fire/EMS. Less than a year of having them the insides fell apart, the zipper disintegrated, and the sole now makes the most annoying clicking noise. For the price I would not recommend these boots. Good start but boots shouldnt fall apart this quickly.
RaspundeJeffrey H.,
It's been a while since i bought boots, but these boots fit perfectly. I wear them for 8 hours at a shot and didn't need a break in period.
RaspundeJonathan M.,
Absolutely love this boot! Extremely comfortable right out of the box!
RaspundeBrian H.,
Only water resistant up to tongue area. Durable zipper. Space available after unzipping isn't enough to remove/insert foot without untying laces. Defeats purpose of having a zipper.
RaspundeMichael,
I have had these boots for over two years. Yes, I should have replaced them a long time ago, but thats why Im writing this review. nnMy soles have been dead for a while, however the outside of my boots still look brand new. Honestly, I could throw some Dr. Sholles in there and keep going and unless Im standing on hard ground all day, I dont really feel the discomfort. nnThese boots are durable, they last, and even with me procrastinating replacing them- they have held up just fine. nnI started looking for other boots to try a different brand out, but honestly I ended up just buying another pair of these.
RaspundeHuston J.,
The boots are good. At first, I thought they were a little flimsy compared to my previous 5.11 boots, but after I wore them for a shift they held up just fine. They are light. A little snug getting on, even with the zipper down, but I think that is more an issue with my ankle that the boot. Very comfortable and they feel great so far. Good boot for the price.
RaspundeJoe E.,
There a good boot on my feet. But for me where I am a diabetic and also a corrections officer. The fit is exactly the size . They are comfortable for long shifts. I do have to say I just wish it had better padded insoles.
RaspundeZachary N.,
Great shoes. Ive hit my feet a few times with a gurney wheels and if I didnt see or hear it I would not have even known I hit anything. Good boots for being on your feet constantly, highly recommend.
RaspundeJustin N.,
Love the boots! My only complaint is that this specific one does not have composite toe for saftey.
RaspundeSandi S.,
Awesome, my husband has gotten three pair of the 511 boots and has no complaints. tracking and delivery were great. Thanks!
RaspundeMichael M.,
These boots are very comfortable. Easy out of the box wear.
RaspundeChandler M.,
I like everything about these boots, great for warm weather uniform wear. The only thing I would change is the website description, with a hard does for doesnt have composite toe.
RaspundeAmparo H.,
Had to return way toooo roomy in the front of the shoe. Runs big. Fit felt floppy. Not for narrow feet. The look is nice but the oversize feel I Had to return the same day I received.
RaspundeRichard S.,
Boot seems to be very well made and has good traction on the sole. Overall fit is good.
RaspundeMiguel B.,
Great customer services . Simple , dynamic and fast
RaspundeChristopher S.,
Cant rate them yet because I still havent received my package
RaspundeHeather F.,
These boots are amazing!!! Ive worn many styles over the last 8 years and I have just never been happy. A co-worker of mine suggested these and they are night and day! Just like a technical running shoe, light, super easy to slip on and off, zip up and go!!! I wear a 7.5 in all my other 5.11 boots so I ordered that size first, but toe box was a little roomier than I like but not unwearable. I order the 7 and they fit my feet like a glove! Please dont change the fit!!!!
RaspundeJared P.,
Great boot! Very comfortable and holds up well for 24 hour shifts! Im on my feet a lot in the Fire Service and this is the best boot for it. Make sure you order a half size up!!
RaspundeIrma P.,
These boots are light on your feet and very comfortable. Definitely help when youre standing for hours at a time.
RaspundeShaniece P.,
I love these boots. I am on my feet with a demanding job, & these boots really make a difference when it comes to the level of comfort. I also really love the style with the velcro tab and side zipper. I now have four pair of 5.11 boots. This brand is the best when it comes to anything tactical.
RaspundeDavid W.,
These are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. Thank 5.11 Tactical
RaspundeGary S.,
Great quality, and price especially when they go on sale. Cant beat the price. Comfortable when you h veto work long shift.
RaspundeJohn B.,
I bought these boots for my LEO duties and they do not disappoint. The fit is snug and supportive and I can wear these for my long 12 hour shifts without any discomfort. These are my second pair of 5.11 boots and I dont plan on switching anytime soon.
RaspundeDavid U.,
First time buying a boot from 511 and I'm damn glad I did. Size it a little small. I usually wear a 10 1/2 but I bought these in 11 and they fit great. Been wearing them for a few months now and I've already bought 2 more pairs. Great shoe 511 don't ever change it.
RaspundeNathaniel T.,
These boots are great, their comfortable, durable and look great. Bought these twice
RaspundeMichael O.,
Went from a minimalist boot to these. I loved the thin sole on my old boots but they were falling apart after 18 months, which isnt bad but I wanted something with morenComfort on large gravel terrain. These have been amazing so far and see quite durable. Time will tell.
RaspundeShaun M.,
I've only worn these a few times. They're very comfortable and keep my feet dry while [walking through a dewy meadow].
RaspundeNoah S.,
The boot is amazing in every way except for the sole. If it lasted more than 6 weeks then I would never buy another boot. I have emailed 5.11 about this but I felt like it was not important to them.
RaspundeRogan R.,
Ive been wearing these boots a few weeks now. They are very comfortable and felt goos straight out of the box. In the rainstorm yesterday, my feet stayed dry.
RaspundeChristine S.,
This boot fits true to size. They are extremely comfortable and definitely water proof.
RaspundeJames S.,
Boots are really comfortable and didnt need any break in. But ordering my normal size these fit tight. I would order another pair a half size bigger if they had composite toe
RaspundeJoey s.,
Great boots love the side zipper pretty comfortable, I feel like they will last awhile
RaspundeMatt,
Can you please stop putting side zippers on all your boots or at bare minimum make a non-side zip version. Ive always had side zippers fail when I needed a durable boot and nothing you can say will convince me otherwise. Not everyone who needs black duty boots can have, need or want a side zipper. nnAdditionally, not everyone is a cookie cutter mold. Im 65, 275lbs. I fluxate between 15EEEE to a 17EEE shoe depending on the brand and cut. This is one of first boots Ive seen in a long time that has an ergonomic shape to the foot box. But it still falls into the trap that all you footwear manufacturers rather pride appearance over fit, functionality, durability, and support. nnStop discriminating against individuals who need wider and/or bigger sizes.
RaspundeWayne B.,
My husband loves these boots!!!! Has the tie look but zip up the side for convenience!!! He said theyre light weight and super comfy.
RaspundeCollin,
Honestly you gotta love your feet and the boot you put on them, I only buy 5.11 for work boots. Helps with posture if youve got weaker ankles from cheaper end boots, looks sexy. Fairly water resistant. Hard bottoms for all terrain, even nails. Never seems to stink up on a super hot sweaty day. And fairly warm in mild winter weather. My last pair lasted almost 3 years but the boot itself couldve lasted 2 times longer if I didnt blow a hole in the toe. Im hoping his boot comes out in a coyote tan or brown so I can wear these as a causal wear in the winter.
RaspundeGrunt,
I must say this 511 got it right with these boots. They are comfortable, long shifts are much easier on my feet. 16 hours days don't feel so bad. They don't breath as good as i like but they distribute my equipment load well on my feet, they are well padded insoles in the boot, I don't have to spend the extra money to get a better insole for the boots. These boots were so good i bought a second pair as a standby. I have tried many 511 boots and other manufactures and its hard to find a good boot. Well worth it, get yours, your feet will thank you.
RaspundeDavin,
I just got my pair of the new A.T.L.A.S. Boot a week ago and after that time I feel that it is definitely worth a try. Short version: they are an adjustment but if your willing to adjust to the different feel they will not disappoint you with a superior performance. In detail I believe these are much better than my last boot. For reference I used to wear 511's A.T.A.C 2.0 8" Side Zip Boot. Compared to my last boot the fit is much loser around the ankle and leg, but this comes with the bonus that they are much easier to slide on and off without untying. As for the the heart and sole of this boot, the A.T.L.A.S. system, it was a huge adjustment. Initially I didn't like the feel of the boot especially as I traversed different terrains, but after adjusting to the different feel I felt it to be markedly more comfortable. On top of that, during the winters this boot does perform better on slippery surfaces such as ice and slush. While it may not be complete traction it is noticeably better, especially on slightly slippery surfaces as a small slush puddle. Only downside so far is the Velcro strap that goes over the zipper has a tenancy to lose grip. Overall these boots are, in my opinion, so good I had to write my first review on them and I would highly recommend them if your willing to adjust.
