I really like these pants but dislike that the colors available are small. Not made for curvy women with thighs it seems like the middle fads fast and rip easily. Not really flexible material and no other options of pants available for curvy women. 511, curvy women prefer flexible, stretchy, work pants that don't come down in the back will bending over. Going up a couple sizes does not work for us.
RaspundeAngelica B.,
Best tactical pants ever! I absolutely love my Women’s Apex Pant. They are true to size, lightweight, and incredibly comfortable to wear all day. The fit is perfect and they are non-restrictive, which makes them great for moving around freely without feeling limited. I’m really impressed with the quality and comfort — these are now my favorite tactical pants. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great pair of women’s tactical pants!
RaspundeTD C.,
Best tac pant ever. True to size, lightweight, and non-restrictive.
RaspundeCrystal G.,
These are cut way different than my Apex, which I get its a different style. But they are NOT true to size at all, they run small. Even with the elastic, they do not fit right.

Heather,
These are my required uniform pants for work. I want to like these and when I was slimmer they fit better, but my biggest grip is they do not offer extended sizing. I typically wear mens pants and am a 42 but can only fit the womens version of this pant. The stretchiness is nice and Ive never had durability issues with it plus the slimmer leg is nice. But the waist and seat runs about 1-2 sizes too small and gives constant camel toe to the point of being uncomfortable. Even my smaller coworkers have complained about the tightness of the crotch area of this pant. The stretchy fabric on the sides are also unflattering if you have hips. The pocket design is terrible but may be cause they are too tight on me. They are designed to be slimmer so anything you put in your pockets takes up room on the inside of the pant instead of like traditional outer cargo pockets and makes it bulge out oddly. I cant put anything in the back pockets and the cargo pockets are at a weird level. The small pockets on the front are horrible and bunch up. Cant put anything in them cause it works its way out of the pocket as you walk.

Anna M.,
If you have any thigh rub at all be ready to replace every 2 months with consistent wear on the job. I've had to reinforce the thigh area on all of my 5-11 pants throughout the years and have pleaded with staff to pass on the message for better reinforcement in thigh area and a higher waist on women's pants. Stuck with limited options for women's work pants in the market. Maybe one day they will get a real female model with curves to help with the design.

Sarah,
For how expensive they are you would think they would be built to last. Ive had three pairs tear in the crotch within a year of getting them. Not sure why they dont reinforce the crotch area with how much theyre charging for these.

Emsgirl123,
The idea of these pants are great. HOWEVER, as many others have also mentioned, the upper thigh and crotch area sucks. I have purchased 5+ pairs, and all of them have ripped. I have even gone to the lengths of reinforcing the fabric and stitching the pants myself. Not to mention, I wash them on cold, without fabric softener and air dry or dry on delicate. I am 5'4, 115lbs and normally wear a 0. Regardless of sizing up to a 2, I had the same issue. When i went into the Cincinnati 5. 11 store to mention the problem, the male employee told me verbatim "you are the only female who has ever had this problem. " He also said "you have the complete wrong body type for these pants". Now, after reading these reviews, I realize how wrong he was. My thighs don't even touch in the areas I've experienced splitting and ripping. Not to mention, I am only wearing the pants 1x a week. Although in the moment I was able to exchange the 5th pair of ripped pants, I never should've had to. This experience at the store, along with the poor quality of pants left me with a disappointing impression of 5. 11. As someone who has worked in EMS for 4 years, I wish 5. 11 would seek out women who actually wear the pants on a day to day for design ideas and suggestions.

Amanda,
STOP CHANGING THE WAY UR PANTS FIT PLZ!!!!!!nIve been wearing the icons in a size 4 for the past 4 years and have loved them, after Id say about 3-4 months they usually rip in the same place on the inner thigh every time, but 511 is really good about it and usually will exchange them out for me. . BUT yesterday they exchanged them out and the new pair of icons I got is super tight and I couldnt even get the top button snapped, now I know I did not gain 20 lbs in 2 days. . . The other pants I had that ripped fit perfect a couple days ago and now these new ones dont? And half the time when I get them the button and zipper are on the opposite side. Wheres the consistency guys?

Katie,
These pants are FABULOUS if youre curvy like me! Ive got a tiny waist, large butt, and thick thighs, then even out. These are THE pants made for curvy girls!! I can move so easily in these! I am a firefighter/EMT and these pants will forever be my favorite. The downside? If you have thick thighs, the friction as you walk will wear down the thigh seams within a year or so. Ive spent way too much on these pants for way too many years but absolutely cant find any pants that come relatively close when we talk about size, comfort, and durability! Unfortunately, the price continues to climb and I cant make the thigh seams hold together any better, but they do last through a lot!

Kimberly B.,
I sized up a bit because I have a generous caboose. These fit comfortably with all of the bending and stretching required while I am on shift. My only recommendation would be a zipper pocket on the leg for my phone and keys.

Anik L.,
Didnt hold up as well as Id hope. I only wear them every 3rd day for 24 hours when at work, but the crotch stitching ripped in both pairs Ive had for a year. I love the fit, but please reinforce the crotch area stitching
RaspundeKatrina H.,
I never received my order. I placed an order at the beginning of the month and still waiting. I notified customer service and was told that I my order had a defective. If I wouldn't have made a call my order would still process in route. But in reality it was never in route. I didn't like how things went I probably wouldn't order here again. One star is selected because it wouldn't allow me not to select none.
RaspundeLeslie S.,
PERFECT! PERFECT! Perfect Fit for my needs! Bought (2) pairs, intend to purchase another pair
Raspunde1406,
I've been wearing these pants for about a year and a half. I have had no issues with them at all (no seam ripping, etc). They will eventually fade some, but that's to be expected with washing. The legs are a little slimmer as well, not the big clown pant look.
RaspundeAK,
I love these pants for a few reasons. I feel like these have a higher rise than their other pants. They have stretch which make them very comfy. They also are not all polyester so having a bit of cotton in the mix helps with the breathability. But I do have the same complaint as many of the others do with the seams ripping on the inner thigh.
RaspundeRejeanne B.,
Very comfy. Offers stretch in the waist as well. Highly recommend
RaspundeKierstin S.,
I really like these pants but literally a week after wearing them, the inner thigh seam ripped.nnI also wish they came in 'short'. I only fit into an 8 but it's too long so I have to take it to a seamstress. I am disappointed in the quality for how much money I spent :( Love the look, the feel and comfort - they need to be made more durable and also offer a "short" version. . .
RaspundeGG,
These are the best duty pant you can find comfort wise. They stretch waist is great with a duty belt. However for the cost they should last longer. The common issue is the inner thigh ripping in about 6 months. I've never had this issue with any type of pant I've ever worn and given the other reivews its clearly a widespread issue. Not sure why 5. 11 wouldn't listen to their consumer and reinforce this area, we're paying a preimum cost for a mediocre product. Also, why do these not come in a short but they do in long? I always have to do extensive tailoring to the lower legs due to how wide the leg gets and how long the pants are.
RaspundeRobyn,
I wanted to love these pants after switching from the Stryke. My biggest complaint is the leg opening is not as wide as the Stryke, but the rise in the waist is much better. The pants are comfortable. I have not worn them long term yet, but hope that I will have better luck with the inner thigh seams than the Stryke pant.
RaspundeShannon,
I love these pants. They are by far the most comfortable BDU style pant I have ever worn since they do stretch however, I probably have about 8 pairs of them and each pair began to rip on the inner seam of my thigh. Is there any way you can reinforce this seam to make it stronger.
RaspundeJennifer F.,
Pants fit great; however the leg opening at the bottom could be a bit wider for work boots and itll look better.
RaspundeKarla S.,
Everything about these pants are great, expect for the thin stretchy material used in the front pockets. This material is too thin, revealing, and unflattering. Love the utility of these pants and the variety of pockets.
Raspundejohn g.,
One size down from your regular will fit best. Looks good on my wife.
RaspundeCassie,
I was super worried about these pants because of the review but oh my god do i think theyre so worth the $90!! They stretch, I can squat and bend without feeling like im wearing actual canvas. As a size 20 chunky girl these are freaking amazing and SO much better than the pair i got 2 years ago!
RaspundeLorelai,
I purchased 3 pairs (in 3 sizes post-baby) on these when they first were introduced a few years ago. I finally wore through my daily pair a few months ago and ordered a replacement in the same size (4). Upon receiving and try on, they have been resized to juniors sizing. The rise is shorter like the Strike and leg opening is smaller to wear my boots are snugly covered now. The sizing for this 4 is much smaller than my old. They fit very much like strike, except they have the panels on the hips. Please bring back the old model because they were perfect.

Samantha,
Ive always loved these pants, from the fit (thank you curvy mom bod) to how high the waist line is. But iv now had 3+ pairs of these pants rip in the same seem in the same thigh and one even ripped on both sides in less than 5 wears. Its super hard to find good female tactical pants but even more disappointing when what you do find and spend good money on fails in just a few uses.
RaspundeJulia G.,
I really like the fit and comfort of these pants but the quality is lacking. I bought a pair three months ago and they already ripped down the seem of the inner thigh. I am disappointed with the quality of the stitching.
RaspundeMorgan,
I had to size up x2 for them to fit properly. I use them everyday for work, and they are very comfortable. However, after 6 months the zipper on mine broke. The zipper is also on the opposite side which is annoying.
RaspundeHeather Z.,
Overall I still like these pants, but on the most recent ones I bought the closure is on the wrong side! The first pair I bought a while ago were fine. Not sure why this would be intentional or any advantage. Why not button like normal pants? The fit is nice, but the closure is super annoying when your muscle memory kicks in while youre trying to use the bathroom. PLEASE change this back to the standard closure! Maybe it was a mistake but quality control should be better.
RaspundeLeslie B.,
Love these pants. The waist is higher than the stryke which is nice. I should have sized down one from my stryke size, but otherwise theyre fantastic!
RaspundeAmanda L.,
These are the most comfortable pants I have worn on shift. Whether its a 12 or a 48 these pants fit great. There is plenty of stretcher around the waist and thigh. Which is why I am highly disappointed in the inner thigh seam ripping. I have 6 pairs of these pants. Only 1 pair which I bought a month ago has not ripped. The pair I bought 3 months ago is now ripping. The other 4 have all ripped in the same inner thigh. I hope there is some way to make the inner seam stronger and these pants are amazing. Please add stronger threading or material! I am needing to switch brands due to the price of these pants and the time span they are lasting. Get a good couple months and theyre toast.
RaspundeAlisa T.,
Highly recommend these. The fit is incredible and comfortable. Great for gals that have some thicker legs and glutes or for girls. Theyre fitted, but have room/ not skin tight. The pockets are great. Stretchy. A little higher waisted in a normal way. Fantastic. Must haves. Great for all day wear
RaspundeShannon,
I really liked these pants. They are comfortable and the long fit is great as a taller female. But after 4 month the seams wore out and ripped. Same thing happened with my pair of Stryke pants. For the price Id expect the pants to be more durable.
RaspundeMaria H.,
Overall great the only issue was I had to order long. Hopefully next time I order youll have regular length.
RaspundeAndrea F.,
These are extremely comfortable and durable. love all the pockets, they come in handy for work.
RaspundeDacia H.,
I have 4 pairs of the icons and three have the zipper opening to the right and second button on the left. But one of the newest pair has the zipper opening to the left and the second button to the right. I absolutely loathe them. I feel like a toddler learning to put their pants on that still needs mommy to button them after going to the bathroom. That's not something a 34 yr old woman should struggle with.
RaspundeEvelyn L.,
The pants are baggy in the butt area, and wide in the legs. The button and zipper on the pants is backwards or meant for a left handed person, its not universal. Purchasing pants online vs in store I learned are different.
RaspundeTaylor H.,
I dont like the backwards zipper. All of my other 5.11s are one way and these are backwards. Its frustrating
RaspundeBeth F.,
Love these pants just wish the zipper hadnt been switched from right to left.
RaspundeMeg,
My favorite 5.11 until the zipper was flopped to the left and made it harder to zip. I even lost my badge that's clipped on my pants to the toilet while trying to zip these up...switch it back please
RaspundeM,
Love the fit of these pants, I wear them for work. But the upper thigh is so thin they rip after only a few wears and these are so expensive to buy every 3 weeks!
RaspundeAdrienne S.,
Size runs bigger so I had to size down, but these pants have a great fit. You can move easily in them as they have the right amount of stretch.
RaspundeNicole,
These WERE the perfect pants. Why in the world would you change to a left handed zipper? 1 in 10 people are left handed. Its so awkward to zip them. Sorry to the lefties out there. I will not be buying another pair of these until the design is changed back.
RaspundeTishanna K.,
Love how it feels. Stretchy enough and long enough. Its a perfect fit.
RaspundeAmanda,
These pants are great, the material of them is lightweight and they are super comfy with nice deep pockets!! However, they recently switched the zipper going the opposite way so I have to zip the pants up with my left hand now which is awkward, please switch it back to the right side this is literally the only pair of pants that are like this. Also, this is probably the 4th or 5th pair Ive bought because eventually after a few months they tend to wear out and rip in the inner thigh, for how expensive these pants are they shouldnt rip so quickly and if so please offer warranties on them or something along those lines! Other than that, no other complaints.
RaspundeChristine,
I have worn 5.11 pants my entire career as a Paramedic, I recently ordered new pairs of pants and put them on only to tragically find the zipper on the left side. Why in the world would you change the design like this?? I went to the local store and noticed none of the mens pants are like this but all of the womens pant styles have this design change, does 5.11 just hate women now or what?? Please bring back the right sided zipper. This is a catastrophe.
RaspundeWhitley,
Ive been a steadfast Stryke pant fan for years, however the change in the zipper positioning really made me mad. So, I figured I would try the Icon pant instead, hoping they would be right. But much to my dismay, that stupid zipper is still WRONG!! Why cant yall take the hint that pretty much EVERYONE is complaining about it and FIX IT!! They were waiting for me when I got home from work this morning, and they will be in the mail to be sent back by this afternoon!! As bad as I hate it, I will have to find another brand until yall do something different. These pants simply SUCK all because some genius decided to flip the zipper around.
RaspundeJeannie J.,
I bought 3 pairs of these a couple of years ago and another 2 pair last week. Why in the world did you change the position of the zipper?? Love the pants, they fit great but the zipper is a pain.
RaspundeHannah,
I love this style! They fit great and are more true to size. I would give 5 stars, but the color for my agency is not available. Please add a storm grey to this style!
RaspundeMelissa W.,
Great for Law enforcement. The material allows me to have full range of motion while running, squatting, kneeling, or jumping over obstacles. The material is soft and comfortable to wear during long shifts.
RaspundeMorgan,
Ive had these pants for a while and they were the absolute best pants..until each pair that I had wore on the inner thigh right at the seam. It seemed like it took no time for it to happen as well. They would have gotten a five star rating in a heartbeat had it not been for how quickly the inner seam started to wear.
RaspundeEmma,
First ever pair of tactial/cargo pants, just started with EMS and these pants have been great so far. i got a size 18 and the waist band is nice and stretchy not constricting at all but still somewhat big so i use a belt. But its the comfiest pair of pants i ever had and I just bought a couple more but one size down as I would like it to be just a bit more fitted. I am 5"6, 210lbs and have big legs but not much on my hips so it is a bit baggy on the top for me but my legs have tons of room and i am able to bend and do everything without feeling any constriction.
RaspundeDanielle L.,
I've worn 5.11 icon pants for years and I love them! But this time BOTH of the pants I bought had a left-hand zipper and button closure. It's not a huge thing, but it is annoying. My left hand has had some surgical issues, so it's difficult but not impossible. They wear great and will order more!!
RaspundeShari,
I had always used the stroke pants but have switched since trying the icon. The stretchy side panel makes them incredibly comfortable. My only 2 gripes are the length options and color options. They either need a short option, or inseam measurement options like mens pants. Not everyone fits into regular or long. And at $82 a pop I shouldnt have to pay more to have them hemmed. As for the colors, I wish these were available in a gray color. The mens icon have 6 colors, womens only 4. Please give us a gray color option.
RaspundeLeslie B.,
Love the Icon pants. Bought 1 in store, and ordered the other 3 colors online. They're great, and I love them. Wish they hadn't swapped the side of the pants where the button, clasp, and zipper are though.
RaspundeCarly,
I feel like if the zipper was normal then they would be a 5. They are perfect waist length for me. Just a little long
I wish companies would hem womens pants like they do for men. The sem in the groin is also a little too thick for my liking and I feel it all day but other than that Im happy.
Dawn T.,
Love these pants for fit, comfort and flexibility. My only gripe with this pair is the zipper was sewn backwards! It zips from the opposite side. Ive never had a pair of pants this way. But tags were off and washed, so I couldnt return them. I have 6 pairs of these Icons and have never had this before. The navy and tan are perfect, olive is backwards in photo.
RaspundeMonet W.,
I was unaware the pants had a stretchy part on the waist.
Raspundemichelle t.,
I'll see how they hold up to my rigorous activity and then let you know. So far the fit is good and there is room for my thighs.
RaspundeCarolyn S.,
Good fit very comfortable AFTER I had to go one size up. I was worried the pants would be stiff and hot but they felt great all day!
RaspundeNessa,
Basically they run really small and need more inseam options for the price theyre charging. I usually wear a 14 and had to size up to an 18 to get a comfortable fit, which Ive never had to do before. I also wish they came in more inseam options as Im 52 and theyre super long and wide legged on me so I have to cuff them a lot. I feel like for the price point I should be able to not have to do much to get them to fit right. However, I do like the pants as far as the quality. I wash them after every use (I work ems) and they are holding up very well, no wear in the inner thighs.
RaspundeBrenda R.,
I love the 5.11 brand in general but the icons are just stretchy enough in the thighs and booty that I can bend and move. The only issue is that if you have any thigh muscle at all, the material freys and at the stitches and the pants have to be repaired after maybe a couple dozen washes.
RaspundeConnie W.,
The Womens Icon Pant is very comfortable and fit very well! I love them!!
RaspundeDarrika E.,
Great pair of pants, but wish they were more tapered at the bottom.
RaspundeD,
Im on the high side of the size range and have been looking for tactical pants that actually fit for, well, years. I reluctantly tried these expecting yet another fail and shockingly they zipped, actually fit my waist AND thicker thighs, and looked like pants for women! I still wasnt willing to write a review until I put them in use, so after a visit to FLETC, I am writing a 5 star rating. They do fit a curvier figure and get better as you wear them. Great pockets without being too bulky and I can tell they will last a long time. I do wish 5:11 would go beyond an XL in other womens wear - my figure does not quite make it in an XL. I would definitely purchase other clothing as the quality is obviously higher end for tactical items. I turned my husband on to 5:11 clothes and they got him really wellhe seems to be building a new wardrobe. We both purchased belts (review pending) that we love and I splurged on a piece of luggage (mission ready) that I am test driving on todays trip (review to come). Again, my only wish is that 5:11 would offer some womens XXL for the top side! Even so, if all I get are the tactical pants, I will be happy with that.
RaspundeKarlee,
I purchased an 8 and they were very big. I usually am a size 8 in 5.11. I returned for a size 6 and they fit much better.. my normal size. Much more comfortable than other pants I own and higher rise which is perfect. The only weird thing is that the zipper is opposite so its slightly weird lol
RaspundeHailey F.,
Okay I actually love these pants, I like the style and the fit. Normally Im a size 4 and when I tried these on originally they were huge, I figured Id order a 2 online and they were still pretty big. Im not even sure if they have a size 0 but Im a little concerned theyd still be too big. Besides running bigger I really like these! Theyre stretchy fabric and have more give than the strike or Stryker pant (I dont remember the exact name).
RaspundeMeacham H.,
These pants fit weird. I finally received them in the mail. It took forever. But there was something about them that looked odd. It was like they got bigger at the thighs and then smaller at the ankles. They were not flattering to me. So I sent them back. Maybe a smaller size would make them fit better. I will stick with the attack pant. It fits the best in my opinion. I am 54 and 130lbs, and I ordered the size 4.
RaspundeBrandi,
These were made for women with thick thighs and a small waist. Best pair of pants Ive ever bought for everyday patrol :)
RaspundeBessie P.,
Fits perfectly in all areas. By far the best pants ever!
RaspundeBev C.,
These pants did not fit - at all - and Im normally not that hard to fit if the size is correct. Returned. Terrible choice.
RaspundeJay,
I love these pants, they have the best stretch and fit my bigger hips perfectly. They are super comfortable, theyre definitely worth the purchase.
RaspundeKathryn S.,
My favorite 5.11 pants. Comfortable fit and very durable. Just the right amount of curve and stretch to accommodate women who deadlift and squat. I'm 5'6" and 160lbs and size 8 fit well.
RaspundeL L.,
I loved these Womens Icon pants so much I ordered 5 more while they were on sale. These 5 pair zipper and button around the waist are on the left side. My other previous pairs were on the right side. Feels very awkward while zipping and fastening them up. Makes me feel like I have on Mens pants. I gave 2 stars. I for the pants fitting in size and 1 for having 5 extra pairs for work (convenience). I opened and took off tags of 4 pairs. Wore them. Cant exchange. Not sure if Ill order more in the future.
RaspundeYolanda,
I understand that with the Stykes you need to size up, because they are low rise pants. That is not the case with these, the Icon's run true to size and are a medium rise pant. They have a stretchy material in the waist/pocket area to give you more flexibly of you are on the curvy side. Hands down love these better than the striykes and they are more flattering on most body types.
RaspundeBrenda M.,
They are ok. They are too low of a rise though and they dont even cover my butt. Even if they sat just above it, it may be ok, but these literally cut it off. My butt is bigger than some but I didnt think it was THAT much bigger.
RaspundeAllexx D.,
The zipper is on the left side instead of the right. The butt is for someone twice my size. One pair is almost impossible to snap shut. I think the Teflon coating is bad for my health and the environment
RaspundeM. K.,
If you have thick thighs, wider hips, big booty, and a smaller waist these are the pants for you. I love the fit and how comfortable they are. Definitely worth the price. Being a curvy woman Ive been waiting for these. They fit true to size. Thankful I dont have to pay for taking in the waist on another pair of pants. Thank you 5.11 for delivering these ICON pants.
RaspundeCindy S.,
Awesome fit! Like so many women, my waist is smaller than my hips. I usually buy the Stryke but the Iconic fits so well dont even need a belt if I dont want one. Highly recommend!!
RaspundeRenee,
Since the Icon's came out, it's all I buy. I just bought a few new pairs after wearing out the other ones. Why did you move how the pants are button/zipped up??? Totally threw me off this morning (haha)
RaspundeAulbrey M.,
Love these! They fit the best because of the stretchy bands in them. I also love the style of them because they dont have all of those huge pockets like the others.
RaspundeTiffany,
I absolutely love the Icon pants! I am blessed with height, curves and thighs. These pants accommodate all of it; without feeling resistive. I have all the colors and want to know if you will be making a gray pair?
RaspundeLiane P.,
Love this style especially if you curvy, love is not a high rise and just feels comfortable, to bad I got the wrong length sent had to return the pants but reordered right away.
RaspundeVeronica L.,
Love the pants, very comfortable. Just wish there was a short length option, for us shorter people. Other than great fit and stretch. Highly recommend...I bought two.
RaspundeCarla H.,
Runs bigger than normal. Size 0 fits as a size 4. Will be returning .
RaspundeELYCIA L.,
The pants pair of work pants ive ever bought! Pockets on sides are a life saver. Perfect for construction during winter or summer. Materials breathes good. And also a good pair to wear fishing or camping. An all around good pair of pants.
RaspundeAlexis O.,
Comfy duty pants. Definitely stretchy when needed. I really like them because Im curvy and they dont make me feel like I need to get a bigger size for them to fit me correctly. They are also very true to size.
RaspundeKathy B.,
I dont like the fly being reversed from all my other pants. Otherwise I love the pants!
RaspundeMari M.,
My favorite 5.11s yet! Comfortable everywhere. Im only 54 but I did get the talks and I feel like they work better with my boots. Ill be ordering more!!
RaspundeChristine G.,
Hate the zipper and how it has been reversed. Also the pant legs are less fitted.
RaspundeAmy M.,
I like the extra leg room in these pants. Nice lightweight fabric. I haven't worn them much yet, but the fabric feels like it will be durable.
RaspundeJessica B.,
Best 5.11 pants! Fit the best out of any style in my opinion.
RaspundeCarol H.,
These are my favorite pants. I ordered them two years ago for work and it was time to order a couple more. I got my two new pairs and was surprised they the button opens on the other side now. Totally threw me off. Why would they change sides on a womens pant? Still the same quality but just getting used to the new side. Ha!
RaspundeKaren M.,
Excellent pants! love the fit, the fabric, the durability. And, finally, pants long enough! Thank you 5.11!
RaspundeJackie,
The pants fit like a DREAM! Most comfortable pants Ive ever owned for work!! But they have one MAJOR flawthe zipper and buttons are backwards on the pants! They are on the left side. I ordered two pairs and a pair of the APEX onesthey have the same zipper problem and its VERY hard to get used to when you dont have much time to use the bathroom on shift. I wanted to love these pants, but the zipper is a deal breaker :(. nnMy co worker also had the same problem with the zipper when she ordered. Bummer.
RaspundeHelen K.,
I have worn these pants for several years and loved them. However, the new version has flipped the zipper to the otherside. At first I thought it was a manufacturer error but I confirmed with 511 that it is the new version of the Icon pant, "This is not a defect as the fly direction on the womens pants was changed to right over left." So, I am learning how to adjust to a left handed zipper. Not so smooth when the alarm goes off. Everything else about the Icon is perfect.
RaspundeYLiz,
I think these are basically the Stryke pant but waist high and a LOT of booty/hip space.nLemme explain:nI always use the Stryke pants (they're awesome) but went to the store to try these on. The Stryke ones rest on my hip, these Icon pants rest on my waist which I prefer, everything else was pretty much the same... until I turned to see my behind on the mirror. I don't really have a booty, like it barely looks decent on the Stryke pants. These Icon pants looked like I was wearing an oversized diaper :'). I'll keep wearing Stryke pants but these would be nice for women with fuller hips/behind.nI tried a size 14 btw
RaspundeMary E.,
These pants were issued to me for use in a volunteer position. Unexpectedly delighted. Love the fit, fabric and thought that went into the design and utility. Plan to get another for hiking in Iceland!
RaspundeKatonga R.,
These are ok, and fit well, however I prefer the Apex pant. I absolutely love the cut of these pants. (APEX) I purchased 1 pair in-store, and I will forever regret not buying a few because I haven't been able to purchase my size since. PLEASE, PLEASE, RESTOCK THE WOMENS APEX PANTS NAVY BLUE IN A 18 REG! I promise to buy more than one pair this time
RaspundeMellisa L.,
Finally womens pants that fit right! These pants hug my curves without restricting my movement. When I bend over, there is no gapping or sliding down. The waist is not low & its not high. Its sits just a little below the belly button so the rise is comfortable the whole day. Ive received compliments of how they make me look slim & the legs arent huge at the bottom. They remind me of skinny jeans but not tight looking. The length is right at my ankle & fits over my boot neck. I highly recommend this for the women who want to feel feminine in their uniform pants. I would not consider my lower area of normal shape. I am ALWAYS between sizes having to decide, do I want it a bit too snug or a bit too baggy. A bit too baggy turns into sloppy. The Icon pant has the stretch part at the waist/front pocket area, the perfect spot to give a bit. A perfect fit . Im short so I have to hem most pants. Love Love Love these pants.
RaspundeKristine N.,
Super comfortable, great fit once you figure out the size you need. If you aren't sure about length I would go for the long size. I'm a hair under 5'8" and needed the longs if that helps
RaspundeAngela A.,
I bought a pair of these pants a year ago or less and loved them. I then bought two more pairs (a bigger size so I could wear layers comfortably) and they ended up being the most uncomfortable pants and so I returned them both. The zipper and button were going the direction that mens pants are made, they fit the way the smaller size did, so buying the larger size was pointless - overall I wouldn't buy them again.
RaspundeLaTonya H.,
First time buyer, I now own 7 pair of these pants. If youre on the fence take that jump, these pants are the best ever, comfort, pockets, length, fabric, etc etc. 5-11 dont change a thing about these pants. Im in law enforcement and I need these in my life. Oh yea and when you wash these pants, they still look excellent, just follow the laundry instructions.
RaspundeJeanine G.,
I am really happy with my 511 Icon pants! As a fitness gal with curves and a booty I am quite particular with the way my clothes fit. Let me tell you, these are functional and comfortable AND just the right length! For reference I am 5'8 139lbs and I ordered a 2 Long. After wearing these a few times now to the range I will definitely be purchasing more of the Icons in different colors. So glad I found these!
RaspundeTanya S.,
These pants are my favorites of all of the womens 5.11s. They run a bit big but are durable, comfortable, and are stark improvement from the Strykes that Ive worn. The only suggestion I have for 5.11 is to taper the legs down from the knee to the ankle area. Im tired of all of my duty pants being huge around the ankle area. I have to taper all of them myself.
RaspundeMarie D.,
Great fit - comfortable and practical. Great material and craftsmanship.nGreat customer service. n5.11 has a new fan!
RaspundePhoebe K.,
While this pants could use a little more curve in the waist department everything else is perfect. Would love womens pants to allow for big thighs and skinny waists.
RaspundeLaura D.,
I bought these because the Stryke pants now have a left handed zipper on the fly. Unfortunately the color doesn't match the Stryke shirt so I ended up returning them and ordering pants from a different brand.
RaspundeMaria A.,
The Icon pant is made for the female form. The waist is more forgiving, making the overall fit more comfortable and true to size.
RaspundeAmanda R.,
These are the perfect work pants. Tons of pockets, great in hot and cold temps, and very durable. Plus the fit is incredible!
RaspundeCathleen W.,
Run a little big, I'm usually an 8, 6 fits. Quite comfortable and so far durable too.
RaspundeMrs b.,
I am an apple. Usually I have to buy bigger just to fit the waist. These pants are stretchy enough in the waist . No more baggy legs!
RaspundeKelly M.,
I am 54 and 185 lbs. these pants are wonderful and fit where they are supposed to. The material inside / at the pockets is the key. All uniform pants should be made like this.
RaspundeMelissa R.,
Ive been wearing 511 Stryke exclusively until I tried these. Excellent fit, slightly higher waist (its about time). My only complaint is the stretchy side panels near the pockets, fabric is way too thin. Im worried how long they will hold up before tearing. nOther than that, theyre awesome.
RaspundeDanielle D.,
Love them! Better flexibility than my go to Stryke pants.
RaspundeKimberly M.,
Just wrote out a long review for a different pair, not typing it all again. These things are just awful. Poor fit, poor quality, unattractive, oddly proportioned... the list goes on. No positive side at all.
RaspundeHayley H.,
Best pants ever. Have recommended to others and they live them to. They stretch and give where needed, but dont slide down despite the innovative stretch picker design. I have bought countless pairs. Only complaint is lack of supply.
RaspundeRASHAN C.,
Ive worn multiple 5.11pants for work. These felt like they would loosen up through out the day. The pockets stuck out a little bit on the sides. Im a plus sized woman and thats not very flattering. The stryke pants are still my favorite for work and in the range.
RaspundeTeresa T.,
These were the fit I was looking for. Most that I've tried have a low waist that may fit men better. They allow for freedom of movement and are comfortable. I didn't rate 5 stars only because I have not had them long enough to determine durability.
RaspundeMegan G.,
I love these pants, they do a little bigger than the stryke pants. If your inbetween sizes I'd size down. I can wear the 20 or 18, the 20 is a little big and the 18 is perfect. I'm 5'8 and 265lbs
RaspundeLorraine L.,
These pants are so great for work. They are comfortable and stretch with you. If you have to bend down to lift things or squat to reach under a cabinet, these pants stretch with you. As soon as I put them on, I knew these were better than the pants that my company issued
RaspundeDonna W.,
I love these pants as they are so comfortable and utilitarian. I can wear them in many conditions of work and play depending what I wear with them. seriously love them, they really are an " Icon"
RaspundeJulie K.,
I've worn the Stryke Pants for years but the moment I slipped these on, I knew I'd love them! They have a little bit of stretch in them which makes them super comfy and a little easier to move in compared to the Stryke Pants. The only cons are that I'm on the shorter side (5'1") so I had to get them taken up a bit. The other thing is there is no notch to hold your badge in the belt loop like the Stryke pants have. Also, I'd size down one. I wear the 8 in the Stryke so I sized down to a 6 in the Icon.
RaspundeVioleta A.,
Really comfortable pants! Regular was a little long for me but nothing a little hemming won't fix.
RaspundeYolanda A.,
Great fit, order your regular size. In stryke I had to size up, but with these you definitely do not have to. They are a relaxed fit not fired like the Strykes. Great purchase I now own 4 pairs and just 1 of the Strykes. If you want a figure hugging pant then go with the stryke.
RaspundeSC,
Right out of the packaging these feel great, very comfy/stretchy. The rise is a little higher than some other 5.11 pants so I can actually go without a belt on these. Only complaint so far is that 5.11's sizing/fit between different styles of pants are off. I have the Taclite Pro and Stryke pants. Those fit like slightly slim to straight pants. The Icon is labeled as straight, but they fit like relaxed/baggy pants and all 3 styles are the same size. I haven't washed the Icon yet, but they almost feel like they are a size bigger in the hips. Hopefully they'll shrink a bit in the dryer.
RaspundeWendy F.,
I spent a fair amount of time searching for women's cargo pants suitable for hiking...something durable that would withstand the outdoors and all of the elements, with decent pockets for the "stuff" that needs to be on board - knife, flashlight, snacks!, phone, firearm and an extra mag or two. Many retailers carried versions of cargo pants for women, though they seemed to miss the mark on the necessary features. And then...I happened upon 5.11 and found the Icon. It didn't take long to close the door on the others, and I wasted no time ordering all four Icon colors. They are THE BEST. The fit is great - I'm 5'3", 127 lbs, with a balanced and toned shape - size 6 was too big, size 4 is perfect. I can wear the pants to work (in an office) and head straight for the trails when the day is done. I highly recommend the Icon pant!!
RaspundeCindy N.,
I wear these pants at work and they are extremely comfortable and stretchy.
RaspundeLucy H.,
True to size amazing feel, look, and stretch!!! Definitely would buy again!!! 5'3 175 size 16 regular.
RaspundeBethany M.,
I love these pants! I own 3 pairs of the Stryke pant, but I will be buying the Icon from now on. I love the higher waist and the stretch panels on the sides. Very comfy.
RaspundeCrystal E.,
Love love love these pants, the flex rip stop allows me to move and have functional pants on and look great! I'm 5'1 & 160lbs (Short & Curvey aka- Can't find pants to fit usually). I do wish the cargo pockets on the side expanded more but other than that they are great. I also love that the are somewhat water repelling and quick dry as I work in rain and tromp through wet and often get my pantlegs wet. We'll see how well the stand the test of time with heavy wear.
RaspundeKim P.,
These are great pants for public service work. I hike into the wilderness for an archaeology job and these pants protect my legs, have plenty of stretch and lots of pockets. I use another pair for search and rescue and they suit my needs for the bending and kneeling required.
RaspundeSam,
I was nervous buying 5.11 pants as a larger person with a ~booty~ (5'4", 220, semi-muscular legs, evenly distributed top-bottom, Icon size 18 (16 and 20 work too). I poured over reviews for fit in the waist, butt and thighs, and I was so pleased to find these have a little stretch. So far they have been great for: the range, outdoor airsoft, hiking, fishing, foraging, and work at a hair salon. I have gotten so many compliments too, particularly on the fit. I have probably washed them every 2-4 wears depending on the activity (about once a week) since Jan 2021 and they are still going strong. The velcro on the pockets doesn't line up as perfectly anymore, though, and I am getting some wear along the seams in the inner thighs--something to definitely be expected when I have already put at least a year's worth of use into these pants with thicc thighs and spandex shorts or leggings beneath. nWish list: 1. Add a second layer to the knee/kneepad slot. Built in kneepad slot on the icon is amazing! I can't even cut one into thesen2. offer a short length inseam--Regular drags if my boots aren't holding them up--I had to put a drawstring in to make it work in sneakers.n3. more colors please! A dark grey would be amazing
RaspundeAmy,
I'm usually a Stryke girl, but gave these a try. They really are more comfortable in the hip and butt areas. Size down tho!
RaspundeBeverly,
Im 53 with thick athletic thighs and a big booty. I usually wear a size 14. After reading all the reviews, I decided to order a 14 reg in the Icon pants. The butt, thigh and waist fit is PERFECT and extremely comfortable, meaning not too tight and not too baggy...perfect! The length is a little long barefoot but Im sure it will be perfect with boots/shoes. Im so excited! I struggle finding comfortable pants. I will be ordering other colors! Thank you 5.11 for making pants for short & athletic girls!
RaspundeNatalie,
I usually wear stryke pants, but bought these and am SO GLAD I did! The stryke look amazing, but are way too low. These sit a little higher and look just as good!! These are more true to size, so size down from stryke! (I wear 8 in stryke and 6 in these! - Im usually always a size 6.)
RaspundeG,
I bought a pair of these in navy to replace our duty BDU style pants, they are excellent. Have good stretch, higher rise, and good pockets.* I had to order a size smaller in these than the Stryke pants FYI, normally wear an 8 in 5.11 stuff and got a 6 in these *
RaspundeBelle,
I've been wearing the Stryke Pant for a few years and never really loved them. They cut me off really low and gave me muffin top (I'm at the end of the size range) but, due to the lack of bigger sizes I just bought those ones and wore shapewear.I purchased these pants and wish I would've done it a lot sooner because they are extremely comfortable and fit well! They also have some stretch which is GREAT!I will no longer be getting the Stryke pants. I'll be getting these icon pants!
RaspundeSarah,
Finally a pair of tac pants that fit me and are true to size at that! I settled for the Stryke pants years ago as they well all I could find that fit me ok but they were a bit short on me and I always felt they sat too low on my hips (felt like bending at the range was risky and I had to adjust my duty belt since my uniform pants sit much higher). I also was between a 6-8 depending on the color and they never fit my waist to thighs ratio quite right. I'm 5'4" 125 with long legs and more muscular butt/thighs. These pants fit like a glove in a size 2 regular which is my standard size. Great stretch in the waist but they fit perfect everywhere, are long enough, and the rise is just high enough. I also love that the leg is more straight than the Stryke and the opening at the bottom doesn't feel like it flares out as much. LOVE these and can't wait to buy more colors!
RaspundeAshley,
I'm 5'6", 128lbs, long torso, smaller build and I loved these as soon as I put them on! They're similar material to the stryke pants but more straight legged. They also have a added stretch material to the sides of the legs/hip area. Plus the sizing seems a lot more spot on. I ordered a size zero which are comfortable below my hips and I was still able to squat, lunge, work comfortably. I am curious to see how they do with my work boots but I will be wearing these casually, work, range time, and camping.
RaspundeEz,
Finally pants that are not low waist. Love how light they are and it seems like they will not fade as fast as the stryke style. Happy girl.
RaspundeTirzah,
I just received mine a couple days ago and have not worn them yet but did try them on. I love the style and they fit true to size (I went up a size but Im kind of between sizes). I ordered the same size I got in the Stryke pants which those are a little big on me. Two things though-5.11 when are you going to make short length pants for women? These are way to long for me in regular and its hard to find someone to hem them. Not to mention for the price you should be able to get the length you need or have it gemmed before shipment. Also it would be nice if you would consider a lighter navy for us fire department gals because your navy is black.
RaspundeRadiusatnight,
These are lighweight and stretchy. I have a small waist and bigger butt and thighs athletic build. Im 5'8" 150 pounds. I have a 33" inseam so i purchased a size 8 long. These are true to size with a little stretch at the waist. Im glad i bought long because i like my pants a little longer. I use these pants for off road ATV riding they are awesome!
RaspundeChantell,
Thank you 5.11 for finally making your womens pants true to size. In the past I have bought the womens stryke pants and the sizing is very off, they run like 2 sizes small. I tried these as well as the new apex pants they both fit true to size and I love them!! Thank you 5.11 for getting it together with the sizing, I plan to buy more!!!
RaspundeSophie,
I have always worn the stryke pants but wanted to try something new. I ordered the same size I've always worn and they were huge on me. Super bummed out!
RaspundeChloe,
Love these pants! Tried these in the store after they were recommended by an employee. I was skeptical because Ive always worn the stryke pants. I bought them in navy blue for my uniform and after wearing these at work for the past 6 weeks, Im absolutely in love! I always struggled with the stryke pants running small, but the icon pants fit like a dream. I work as a firefighter and a K9 handler so I live in cargo pants. I only have one pair and theyve held up great, no tearing or fading despite my active job. Besides the fit being amazing, theyre super comfortable to work in. I am tall and curvy, and these are very flattering. So many pockets too! I never run out of room. I feel like they would also be flattering on any shape as well. Will be ordering more in other colors too!!! Thank you 5.11 for making pants that fit women!

Mika,
These are my required uniform pants for work. I am 5'1 - fit, 115 lbs - Size 0 is still way to big! Horrible fit! Dislike, wearing these.
