On the other plate carrier sold by 5.11 u don’t need to break in your shoulder pads but on the QR plate carrier you have to break them in bc they’re as stiff as a board.

The product works well. You will need to purchase the cummerbund, which is not included. This is stated in the description. There are no additional side straps to secure the vest to your body, yes you need the cummerbund. The vest holds my steel plates well, but you do need to make sure you have the velcro lined up properly. You do need to purchase the cummerbund. I'm a smaller framed male, the vest leaves enough room for you to easily have a duty belt on. Did I mention you will need to buy the cummerbund? Just get the cummerbund, save yourself the additional shipping cost and wait time. nThe only thing I find wanting with this product right now is I do wish there were a larger area for the velcro to line up, and that there were simply just more surface area for the velcro on the interior. Hard plates are heavy, and I'd rather have to really rip this vest open and know that plate will be secure; rather I am a little worried that a heavy plate may fall out if the velcro doesn't hold. All in all, seems great coming out of the box. Get the cummerbund.

In my opinion, the QR improved upon some problems of the TacTec carrier. I like the adjustment system and QR feature a lot. The QR system makes it much easier and faster to throw it on and secure it compared to the old velcro system. A couple things that should be noted: compared to the TacTec, the QR carrier has 2 less columns of molle, for a total of 6 horizontally and 11/12 vertically. The QR also has significantly less padding than the TacTec. It's not uncomfortable, but it's noticeable when loaded with plates. Aside from that, there are some other less significant changes that can be seen in the photos and in the description.
