Love Them but...

My last pair of boots were 5.11 and i fell in love with them. I ordered a pair of new ones and I couldnt even make them a shift before having to switch back to my old pair. The laces are insanely short so i had to lace them so tight I could barely feel my toes. It doesn't help that they don't come in wide sizes, my feet swell during my shift and I already ordered a size up than usual in them. If the laces weren't so short and they came in wide sizes they be perfect!

These used to be my go-to work boots and I would recommend them to EVERYONE. I wore through three pairs of these through the course of daily heavy use over about a decade (each would last me about two-three years), and Ive been wearing only my composite-toe version for the past two years due to not getting around to getting new basic ones yet. Well, I finally had need to have a second pair of boots and discovered to my delight that I had apparently stocked up on a backup pair of these boots a couple of years ago and had just forgotten about them. So like a kid on Christmas, I break open the box and take out the boots and discover that the design changed when I bought them however long ago. Theyre still my ATAC 8 boots, but they feel like theyre made of plastic, and are noticeably smaller inside, and have insanely short laces. I have a size 7 foot and size up to 7. 5 or 8 in these boots to have a little extra room for inflammation after being on my feet all day, but there is NO extra room in this boot AT ALL. The material doesnt give like leather so it just presses uncomfortably everywhere on my foot, and I cant even use the lace to lace up my boot, since its too short to do anything.nWhat the hell? These boots used to be perfect, and now it feels like a cheap Chinese knock off made for pennies on the dollar and still sold for an insane markup. I used to love this store, but in the past few years, the quality has dropped so wildly far that I dont even know why Im still trying. Now I have to find a new brand for boots. Absolutely crushed (and livid that I paid for these useless piles of junk!) that this item is just another in the long line of things that got cheapened into unusability.

I have had 2 pairs of these and have worn them out. By worn out - the exterior and sole are still work acceptable. I just need replacement insoles. I really don't want to put an "after-market" insole in these boots and affect the great fit.

I recently made a review giving two stars and now changing to five! As mentioned in my previous review, the boots were very comfortable, but fell apart after a year. The 511 team reached out to me immediately and said the defect is covered by warranty. They are resolving the issue by shipping me a new pair without the hassle of going back to the store or returning the old boots! I am extremely happy and would definitely recommend buying from them!

Very disappointed! Although these shoes are very comfortable, theyve already fallen apart after 1 year. The insides are worn out and the side of the shoe split open. I am a bartender, I dont workout or run in them, I only wear these shoes for work.

I have had these boots 4+ years. I went through motor school in them. I got them on a black Friday sale and the best investment of my career! Bit of a break in time, but now I refuse to wear anything else. I dont have anything else 5. 11 and was a SKEPTIC. But these are my favorate boots ever, after 6 years in the Army even. These win. Plain and simple. Do it. Suffer the break in. Cute and comfy and gets shit done. And a polishable toe. :ok_hand:

I'm so upset and and sad. I've been buying this EXACT boot for over 5 years. I can't express enough how much I loved this boot. I wore them every single day and had to buy 2 pairs over those 5 years because I wore down the tread from so much love. It was time to upgrade and I got the same shoe in the same size. It's like just shy of fitting me and my toes cramp up just enough to hurt my feet. I seriously want to cry. I was so loyal to this brand because I have back problems and these shoes helped me hike and walk long distances. Now I don't know what to do. I have to find a new company and soon because I have a big walking event coming up in NY. Wore my old pair last year to the same event but can't wear them because they are too worn out. I am truly upset that you guys must have changed manufacturers and they are making the size ten just a bit smaller than before but it's just enough that I can't wear it and you don't have a 10.5 for me to size up. Not sure what to do. I hate leaving this brand but the boot is not the same. Is it possible I got a defect pair?

These are the best thing I have ever put on my feet. My last pair of these lasted through 2-3 years of heavy use, probably wore them 3 out of every 4 days, maybe more. They have held up longer and better than anything else I've owned, and are equally good for hiking or wearing to work in dress slacks. Insanely comfortable, don't even need breaking in. Warm in the winter, cool in the summer. Side zipper held up well despite taking them on and off multiple times per day. Can't rave enough - I ended up buying pairs for my whole family for Christmas and they love them too! My husband wore his to work every single day for 2 years before asking for a replacement pair, and says they are the most comfortable and functional boots he's had.

I purchased the womens ATAC 2.0 8. Read a bunch of good reviews. Ive worn 5.11 gear for years now and usually am satisfied. This is not my first pair of boots from them. This boot hurts my left ankle. It seems like the material is bunched up right on the inside of my ankle bone near the zipper. I have worn for a couple of weeks thinking I had to break them in but the pain is almost unbearable now. I dont understand why its just the left ankle. Right side is just fine. I reached out and the response was a generic return email. Not pleased this time around.

Second time I have bought these boots.. love them, soooo comfy. nnI use them to ride my Surron Ebike, and the zipper ended up breaking last year. But I ride and use them hard, and there was a ton of mud when I tried to zip up.. so make sure they are clean before trying. nnOtherwise I am obsessed. They give me the perfect amount of support and protect my feet from rocks at speeds up to 40

I normally stock up on these and always have 1 or 2 pairs ready to go however the 2 latest pairs that I have bought are absolute trash and since it's outside the return window I am unable to return them. One pair the toe box is too small, the second pair the right foot is too tight and is pinching off blood flow. I guess no more 5.11's for me.

I bought these 3 years ago and they have lasted me through covid, snow, rain, sunshine and everything in between. I am now going to be on my second pair of these. It's hard to find a pair of boots that don't make my feet sore after walking in them for 12+ hours a day but these are so comfortable, i even convinced my partner to get a pair and she loves them as well. Plenty of wiggle for my toes but secure so my foot won't move around while walking. They appear well made and I like the little pockets for a pocketknife. Pleased with my purchase!

My husband bought me this boot in 6". I'm on pavement 12hrs 5 days a week rain or shine. They're comfortable and lightweight, water resistant,I wish they were waterproof. I will say that they dry out quickly on a normal wet day when they are perfect breathable fabric makes it comfortable. In the winter for me I love them because my feet a warm. Excellent fully functional boot!

These boots can handle anything in any situation. I have to wear boots 24/7 and before I found these boots, I would get about a month out of a pair, 2 months max before I'd need to buy a new pair. Now I get a good year and a half easily out of every pair of these. Not only will they take a hard thrashing but they are extremely comfortable. These are now the only boots I buy.

I am not one to write reviews. I use them when trying to decide on a purchase, but maybe have written one other in my 33 years. ONE! Anyway, these boots have zero break in period. They are SO COMFY right out of the box. Thats not even the most exciting thing. Ive owned Bates and UA boots and always struggled to get a shine. I put one layer of polish on these babies and boom. Like a mirror. No exaggeration. Buy them, you wont be disappointed.

I bought these boots in 2007 and am just now replacing them and only because my dog chewed one up. They were still perfect in every way, super comfortable for 10+ hours with superior instep support. I never had to use inserts, they just conformed to my feet. There are others out there that I'm sure are great, but for the price I see no reason to pay more when these are proven to be what I need.

Great boots with one small complaint

These boots have it all for a security officer who used to go through three pairs of shoes a year. They are ideal for long hours of foot patrol. In fact, I find myself wearing them when I'm off duty as well. They are comfortable out of the box with the extra bonus that they fit my orthotics well. They are light enough for everyday wear and once you get them tied to your satisfaction, the side zip makes it easy to keep there. They provide excellent support for my ankles and are warm in winter and cool in summer with a very durable sole. So why only four stars? Because in the chill of a Canadian winter, the durable soles of these boots harden and you will slip and slide all over the place. I've nearly hit the ground more than once this winter, starting when it was only just around the freezing mark. I work primarily indoors but must conduct perimeter patrols in -10C and lower temperatures. I realize there aren't many boots that will help on ice or packed snow but I really watch my step now when re-entering buildings with smooth flooring after one too many slip scares.

I'm a soldier who also loves hiking. I used them in an Edmonton winter and they got slippery and hard when very cold, but they were otherwise great. I used them on a winter hike in Jasper and they weren't great at holding the wet out, but they lasted through the rough snow and dried surprisingly fast. They still smell like campfire smoke and I love wearing them everyday.

These boots are average at best. I wore out the inside heel of the boot in less than four months, and the boot constantly squeaked when I walked on certain types of floors. I decided to buy a second pair giving 5.11 the benefit of the doubt. I was wrong. My second pair of boots squeak as though they are wet. I thought it was because they were new, but I've been wearing them for a few months and still no difference. So far, the inside of the heel as held up though. I like the look of the boots. I like the fact that the boot has a side pocket which I keep a pocket knife in. However, the boot isn't all that when it comes to functionality.I won't be buying another pair.

I bought a size 7.5 which is my true size and it is too big so then I bought a size 7 and it was too small. What stinks is that I have to ship them back and there is no other 8" boot size for woman. Boooo and I have to pay for shipping. Major waste. I will be going back to [@].

Most Comfortable Boot

I wear them every work day and I do a lot of walking. My feet feel amazing and I feel as though I could walk all day if I had to. My pair before this one lasted three years! I love them.

Great boots

I really like these boots but I think I will be getting a different pair for the summer months. These feel quite warm to me. I will be keeping these though because I love the cut, extra pocket, and the stability. I also have had 1 ankle surgery and I may be having another one soon (peroneal tendon issue), I feel like these boots give me the support I need to not twist my ankle or fall. It gives me the support I need for my ankle not to give out. I'd also like them to be water proofed but maybe they'll make them that way in the future ;)

I had owned a pair of men's ATAC 8" & 6" two years ago. I have had a couple of different brands in between. I thought that I would try the women's this time around figuring that they were made for my gender. I now need orthotics partially due to wearing ill fitting boots. It took me over 3weeks to get this pair broke in and they still squeek once I hit the tile floors in our buildings. So much for my element of surprise.

A Narrow-Footed Man

I am a man with narrow feet. I found the regular sized men's boots to be too wide, so I tried these on. I take a 9 women's which corresponds to a men's 8. I wear these in hot, cold, wet or dry conditions. I wish they would make the other styles in these narrower sizes. I own two pair of these boots in size 9 (women's). I would buy more 5.11 boots if they came in these sizes. These are highly comfortable. The only thing that annoys me is that they aren't water proof, just water resistant. I can't get them in cold-weather styles. They aren't blood-borne pathogen-proof. Please make more styles available in these sizes!!

This turned out to be the most uncomfortale boot I have tried to date. In the past I have used SWAT brand half zipper and Rockies. This shoe gave me blisters after wearing them for a half day. I had to take them off anfter 4 hour as I coud not walk. THE SWAT and Rockie boot did not feel this way when I first purchased them.

Best Boots Ever!

I've been wearing various boots in the military for 13 yrs and these are the best I have ever had. I got these specifically for 4 months of Officer Candidate school training during the winter and they were exceptional! They require zero break in period and keep your feet warm all day long in outside winter tempatures. They also provide great arch support and the zipper is perfect for putting them on quickly. I don not usually write reviews on items but I cannot express how impressed I am with these. Worth every penny.

I'm not an officer or anything like that, but saw how well my husband's boots held up to his patrols on his site and decided that I wanted to try them out myself. I have back issues so I was a bit worried since I had never wore boots because of this, instead these were very comfortable and I wear them everyday. They have helped with a lot of my back pain and are very light so they don't pull on me as I walk. I was scared of the cost at first but if I had known I would have gotten so much out of them I would have ordered them a long time ago.

Used this same boot in the 5-month academy and have used it on patrol for over 2 years. As comfortable as the first time put on. Initially, they feel tight, but you don't want loose boots to avoid blisters; loosen up after first week's wear. No double-up'ing on socks required. Comfortable, even after 12, 13, 14+ hour-shifts. Only bought a new pair because the tread was less than 1/4" left. Would buy again and highly recommend this boot.Would recommend trying boot on for sizing, prior to purchase; I found that the 10-size (my normal size) felt too big; went with the 9-size and fits like a glove.

Amazing Boot!

I am a full time EMS provider. I bought my boots last December (12/2010) and they have given me a year of 36+ hours a week wear. I have small feet and men's boots do not fit me properly and 5.11 Women's boots were the answer I was looking for. The boots were comfortable from the first wear and still look good a year later! Paired with the 5.11 Socks my feet and back never hurt and have relatively little fatigue.

I've worn through two pairs of these boots (they get some pretty heavy use) and I really like them. They do feel a little wide to me, but I do have narrow feet. I did run into a problem with my most recent pair, a crack developed in the leather near the toe, but that was after 5 months of use, about 12 hours a day. I'm planning on buying another set.
