Not as good as the old style.

The on snap tap Vest Closure tab in front of the old vest is now missing. That was very missed especialy when carrying a CCW side arm.

Cheap version of what used to be a good vest

The previous version of this vest was really good. I used them for years to carry K-9 supplies and had two, one a little larger to fit over winter clothing. The old vest finally shows signs of wear, but it's no longer available. This new Fast-Tac vest is a cheap knock-off. It's a thin material that I think will wear through much quicker than the old version. It doesn't have the large inside chest pockets, it doesn't have the key ring loop in the rightside pocket, doesn't have the flap and snap at the top of the zipper. The pockets are also a little smaller and some things that just fit in some of the old pockets don't fit in the new ones. 5. 11, you need to bring the old ones back! These are defintely NOT worth the SALE price of $80. I'm really sorry I bought these. If I can find the tags I will return them.

Go back to cotton please

If you ever produce these in 100% cotton please let us know. I had an older vest in cotton for years. The best vest ever. Built like a canvas OD GI bags and packs of old. nThese new ones, I just can't use the vests made with the new materials. But yesterday I lucked up and found an older cotton version out of an estate sale. A size too large but I will fix that soon enough. I have the same one but eventually, well I washed it to death.nIt is a great design, very functional, but the latest ones are a trade off for the materials of the new age.

Not what they used to be.

I bought a new one to replace the one I bought back in 2011. The new one is no where near as well made as the older one. It has fraying seams, elastic in the pockets is weak and one even lost all its stretch after just a few weeks. I do carry 6 mags, a brick Motorola, spare battery, IFAk and a bunch of other items and it beat the crap out of the new one. I washed and dyed the old one and am back to using that one.

Replacement for worn-out vest

I like the lighter material. The fit is good at 2XL, but I miss the "D" ring on the right side of the vest and the front snap to close the vest without using the zipper. The front lower pockets on the right side are smaller and hold all the stuff I used to carry in my older vest. I prefer the older design. Would be great if the older design was made with the new lighter material.

I've Been Using One Regularly for About a Year and a Half

The material is light, as advertised, and it seems durable and stain resistant. Thus far, no abraisons, tears, or wearing through in the pockets. The zippers function well. Sizing is a little big but not a deal breaker; it gives more options. The length is good. I am long waisted and the vest is more than adequate to conceal a Glock 26 carried OWB.nnA vest is about as discreet as a fanny pack and I do not use it for discretion. I find the pockets convenient but, like other vests that I have used over the years, this one suffers the same shortcomings in pocket design. For instance, the left breast pocket is almost too snug for a pack of cigarettes and a Bic lighter while the pen/pencil pocket is more than adequate. Meanwhile, the right breast pocket is more useful and will hold a large cell phone in an Otterbox. The bellows pocket on the lower right is of useful size. The opposite side has two pockets that can carry AR mags or shotgun cards, which can be useful in an emergency but, in some ways, I would rather see either one pocket configured to discreetly carry pistol mags or simply another large, bellows pocket. The "handwarmer" style pockets in each side are difficult to access and not very useful, especially if other pockets are full.nnThe vest has two large, interior pockets that are retained by velcro with interior velcro panels that are compatible with an optional, "one size fits many" holster. For its price, the holster is not bad and it attaches securely. However, breaking through the velcro enclosure to access a firearm is awkward and it places a handgun rather low, about at the ribcage. Others may differ in opinion but this is not my preferred method of carry and if utilized, access is slow and the handgun interferes with other pockets.nnNow, in all fairness, the manufacturer is offering a product that is somewhat generic that must work for many different users and what is perfect for one might be less so for another. As to quality for the price, I would rate the vest at 5 stars, considering materials, construction, and performance to date. Regarding design and function, I would like to give it 2 stars, not because it is bad but because it is mediocre and I expect a company that specializes in tactical gear to do better. However, considering competitive products that I have also tried, I think an overall rating of 4 stars provides the most objective reflection of the product.
