The front and bottom panels are double layered with 500D for extra durability. An alternate top bungee retention system is included. Overall, I found that the flexibility and retention of these mag pouches did excel between several different platform/lengths of mag (AR, AK, some old school big .308 carbine type). I'm still getting accustomed to the 5.11 type Flex HT strap. It *feels* a little flimsy and the button snap takes a little bit of practice to get it locked in, but overall I trust the brand. Putting this at 4 stars just because I want to see how the longevity/comfort factor comes around on the Flex HT strapping with extended use and also it's a little pricey when in the range of some similar types (such as the Taco, though I'm not a huge fan of that). Also, I ordered the wrong color but that's totally on me...Ranger Green and Kangaroo are a bit different, LOL. Overall no complaints with 5.11 on this one or in general ever.
