The Apex 11" shorts are great! After purchasing other brands shorts and being disappointed I decided to look at 5.11. I am glad I did. These shorts are comfortable have many pockets and are durable. I have purchased many pairs of these shorts and will not look elsewhere. They may be expensive but are quality and worth it.

I wear a 34 waist short and these fit very well! My only complaint is the pockets seemed to hug too tightly because of the material they're made of (spandex type interior)

The 5. 11 Apex 11 Shorts are built tough but still comfortable enough for everyday wear. The stretch fabric moves with you, and the material feels lightweight yet durable. Overall, the shirts (like all 5. 11 products) are pretty decent. Great material, craftsmanship, etc. my big problem with these is they moved the magazin/phone pocket too far back so when you sit you feel the items on your butt. Need to move the magazine pockets about an inch or so forward like the rest of the pants/shorts and they would be perfect!

These are my favorite shorts. I have four pairs. I have two gripes: n1) Sizing is inconsistent. Between 4 pairs of size 36, 2 are way tighter in the waist. 2) All 4 are losing a seam at the hem. nLove the pockets/dividers. nLove the breathability. nnHowever, they need some work.

I love these shorts and am only wearing these Apex version in different colors. The only complaint I have is the second button tread tends to wear out quickly. I'd like to see both buttons us the the webbings style tread the main button uses, but that's nit picking and in now way makes me not want these shorts.

I like the Apex pants, so I thought that I would try the shorts. The shorts do not feel as light as the paints do for some reason. Dis appointed that the shorts don't have the same sizing as the pants. I got a 31 waist in the pants, but had to go with 32 waist in the shorts. The size difference is noticeable, but I am keeping anyway to try them out.

The secondary button broke off of the shorts on the first wearing. The plastic button should have (4) individual holes - but when I found it - it was one hole and the plastic between the holes was all broken out. 5.11 does these button from the back side so it is impossible to make the shorts/button new again or the same. First time the button has done this in any Apex pants or shorts and I have been buying them for years.

I bought these and the apex pants. I love the zippered pockets and the layered back pockets. Nice material and stretch. The only issue I have is with the stitching on the inside of the belt loops. Not sure why it couldnt just be a running stitch. Seems like theyll get worn out pretty quickly, especially if you wear a tactical/duty belt. nOther than that and a few loose threads here and there the shorts are nice.

Great shorts. These are with out a doubt the best shorts I have ever owned. Great material and the extra pockets are awesome. I can carry my spare mag in one and the other one is wide enough to fit my iPhone 14 in an otter box symmetry case. I really like how the pockets are off to the sides from the main rear pockets. My wallet rides nicely and my extra mag is off the side of the wallet and does not get in the way when I sit or move. You can tell the pocket placement was very well thought out. These are natural looking shorts and dont appear tactical to make you stand out in a crowd. I cant say enough about these shorts. They are pricy but I was able to get them during a presidents Day sale for about 20% off. I also returned one pair and the return process to exchange was excellent. I actually returned a pair of the Stryke shorts for another pair of these. The Stryke are great but they look more tactical and you stand out in a crowd more. These Apex shorts don't have that problem and appear as cargo shorts. The cargo pockets are very nice and have 2 internal cut outs pockets inside each you can put items in like full large magazines or phones. As well additional room around the cutout pockets. These shorts are true to their size so I recommend getting the size you normally do. It also is great for pocket carry and conceals a P365 very well. They are super easy to draw from. I prefer Apex to any other jeans or products. They are excellent. I highly recommend these.

Great quality. Love the deep pockets and stretch of the fabric. Have essentially been wearing them everyday since receiving them. Would like shorts to come in 1 increment waist sizes like the pants. A 35 would be ideal for me. As such, I purchased two pairs, a 34 which is a bit snug and a 36 which is a bit loose.

The material is stretchy, resilient and reasonably comfortable, but the layout of the pockets is a huge compromise in my book. Unless 5.11 brings back the old Covert Cargo pants/shorts (style #74290), which they discontinued for some terrible reason, I am gonna have to find another clothing provider. None of their newer styles fits my lifestyle/EDC like those pants did.nnThe Apex pants/shorts move with you pretty well, but the pocket design, despite being the most functional, but civilized looking option they have, are just hard to get your hands in and out of and limit my carry options unreasonably for that price point.nnThe old vertical cargo pocket zipper and the duplicate set of pistol mag pockets behind the hand pockets of the old Covert Cargos was pure genius. The Apexs fall short to this once great design.nnGet back to your roots 5.11. These new designs (especially the skinny fit nonsense) is an embarrassment to your once great potential in purpose built attire.

They fit great, with a good amount of stretch in the waist to move around comfortably. Another great aspect is that the pockets are stitched to the pants on the inside as well, thus, theyre sleeker, and dont bulge making it easy to pull out your wallet with out it getting caught on the pockets fabric. They have a classy sleek look, like khaki shorts with cargo pockets you cant notice so you can wear them to work or when getting dressed up!

These are my absolute favorite shorts. The material is rugged enough to withstand hiking, camping, and competitive shooting, but very breathable and stretchy, with a thick elastic waistband that is super comfortable. Hidden hip pockets for spare magazines are one of my favorite features.

These are my husband's favorite shorts. The pockets are fantastic and the material dries quickly. They're the apex pants in shorts! He orders a size up just so he can appropriately fill the pockets and not feel too constricted. He can even hike in these pants since they allow such freedom of movement. Like low profile cargo pockets, everything stays in place. Iffy about cargo-shorts. Decided it's MY NEW SUMMER UNIFORM. Breathable fabric. I like black but it's foreseen that sweat-stains will appear on days above 90. Will try in "storm grey" (pants version lasts me 100 uses/washes. HOPE these last just as long)

Love the Apex pants! Have 2 pairs of shorts now, wish they were a little longer being a 12" or 13" and they need to make the 33" waist just like the pants! These shorts are super comfortable. The build quality and material is excellent. They do fit a little small, I normally wear 34, but these fit like 33. The material is stretchy enough to make them still wearable. Ovearall excellent shorts.

Great shorts. This is the 4th pair I have purchased. Good fit, wear well. Best feature is the pockets. They do a nice job of keeping my EDC (phone, light, knife, glasses) organized and secure while moving or sitting in a vehicle.

These shorts are as I expected. They fit is similar to other 511 Tactical pants. They are, however, a little snug in the crotch area (as another reviewer stated). Not clamp like, and doesn't make the shorts unwearable, but the inseam is a little high. They only other negative was the Navy color is almost black.

Tough waterproof fabric that unfortunately shows every exposure to dirt and pet hair. Dark blue looks dirty constantly. Sized large and baggy but lots of storage. Oh and expensive.

I wear Apex pants at work and love them and the shorts are great also. They are comfortable to wear and mostly in part to the durable flex material.

The shorts themselves feel and fit great. The cut in the waist is definitely a little tighter compared to their other shorts. However, for whatever reason, 5.11 has shifted the mag pocket further to the rear. The mag pocket has traditionally been more forward to somewhere in the 4 o'clock position. But, these shorts move the mag pocket more to the 5 o'clock position. They are basically in-line with the back pocket, which is a bad thing for anyone that carries their phone or a SOF-T in their mag pockets daily. With these shorts, you're definitely going to sit on whatever is in the mag pocket now. Further complicating it, the mag pocket is now significantly deeper. This can make grabbing your phone out a bit harder, since it may sit fully in your pocket now. nnI wanted to love them. They are really comfortable. But the mag pocket shifting positions is just a no-go for me.

I have 2 pairs of the shorts and 2 pairs of the pants. Really like them. Have nice pockets that are deep. This is what initially led me purchase them as i carry a Sig 365 in a pocket holster. It works perfect in these shorts (or the pants version). It doesnt really print and its super comfortable. The pockets are wide enough that i can draw the gun without snags. nnAlthough not a huge gripe, wish the shorts were just a hair longer (that part is 100% personal preference). They are fine as is, just nitpicking here. nnThey are overpriced in my opinion but again, i still bought them and would again in the future. Just wish they were a little cheaper.

As being a HUGE fan of the Apex pants I figured I'd try the shorts too. And they are perfect. The length, weight, material, fit, and overall look are all great and functional. Will definitely get more.

Bought for casual wear during sale, $30... great shorts for the money... crazy they think these are worth $70! The pants are same price and it's half the material... bought 34s which were snug and went back for 36s, fits great, pockets work well. Do wish they came in gray, I'd but another pair... the Apex pants do!

These are by far my favorite 5.11 shorts for casual wear. They have the hidden cargo pockets so they look really good for an everyday short. They are super comfy with deep pockets. Please make them in light gray & possibly dark gray. The only thing lacking on these shorts is some better colors!

I love all of the 511 gear and apparel, I waited for short of this leg length. I slapped them on and the crouch felt tight, no room like cheap underwear. If the crouch was not made so high or tight they would be great. Oh by the way there are 36 .

Not only do these shorts look really nice, but the material is super nice too! It feels very smooth so they look great with a button down or a t-shirt. Just a note on all 511 pants and shorts; I love how they finish buttons off with a ribbon instead of thread. So smart!

Love this short for everyday, camping, hiking and range day wear. Super strong and comfortable. Great pockets and design. This is my favorite go-to short.Please add a grey or charcoal color!!! Not every color needs to match a uniform! ;) Thanks for making great product.

I purchased two pairs of 5.11's APEX shorts, Black and Battle brown, three years ago. I've put them through the "test". At the range, at the game, on the couch, hiking, riding, and in the garage. These same two pairs of shorts look the same as they did the day I purchased them. They did get softer though, which is nice. Because they are holding up so well, fit so nice, feel so good, hold ALL of my EDC, AND show off my skinny white legs so nicely, I want to buy more but my color options are limited. The APEX pants come in aditional colors like Burnt, Storm (Light Grey), Volcano (Dark Grey), TDU Green, Tundra, and Dark Navy. I would love to have these shorts in the same array of colors that I have in my APEX pants (Yes, I did buy all of these pants color-ways)

I now have two pairs of these and they are great. Excellent fit, great material. Love the new two button waist fastener, the pockets that will fit an Iphone, and the magazine compartments inside the cargo compartments. The spacing of the belt loops works very well if you are using a belt with Velcro closure. These are my favorite 5.11 shorts.

Bought the Apex pants 33/34 and those are awesome. The Apex shorts are in 32 way to small and in 34 way to large. Whats the problem to make em in 33? By the way: The Stryke both pants and shorts fit perfectly as a 32. How about sticking to sizes?

Almost... Everything so far about these shorts makes my appreciate how much they retail for. At first I was concerned why I was about to pay as much as full length pants for a pair of shorts. Now, after a few times wearing them all over the place I'm happy with my expense. The pockets all seem to be in the right place, the stretch allows for a full meal, and the material rejects moisture like a duck. The only problem I have with these shorts is the stitching inside the rear waistline is awfully scratchy. Since tucking a shirt into shorts defeats the purpose of dressing for the weather, this is a problem. Please try to smooth this out in future updates!

I just bought my 2nd pair. I'm 6'3 240lbs and these are the best shorts I have. They're very comfortable and the design allows for free ease of movement. No bunching or restricting. Excellent with IWB carry or out at the golf course. Highly recommend.

The material on these are great. Soft, comfortable, but with some strength to the fabric. I have 3 other styles of 511 short, but these are not my favorite. Actually, out of the 3, 511 has yet to make a home run with me. The dividers in the cargo pockets are great because they are bigger than other styles, but, putting a pistol magazine in one "prints" it in the pocket so you can tell whats in there. These also seem to ride low on the hips. Not good if you are going to be putting weight in the pockets. Not a fan of the zipper cargo pockets. They open and close better than I thought, but depending on your position, not very fast getting in and out. I carry an IWB medium size pistol, one magazine, a wallet, an ID case, a very small clip knife, handcuffs, a small clip on OC canister and a full size cell phone. I can slide a magazine or OC can in one of the small sub pockets built into the rear back pockets, but that only works standing. Sitting and up and down, things tend to slip out. My Samsung Note 4 in a case sticks out the back pocket, it is not deep enough to take the whole phone. These are just not the super storage shorts they claim to be. Also not a fan of the button fly. While it is secured with a looped piece of nylon web, its floppy. Why not a snap like the classic 511 shorts?
